Goldie Hawn, Chevy Chase, Charles Grodin, Robert Guillaume and T.K. Carter star in this 1980 comedy. This takes place in California and Chase (Vacation) plays writer, Nick Gardenia who is abducted by 2 bank robbers forcing him to help them. Hawn (Overboard) plays Nick's ex-wife, Glenda, a lawyer who is married to District Attourney, Ira Parks (Grodin) who both learn he's wanted by the police. Nick comes to Glenda for help and she's put in a difficult position trying to prove his innocence. Guilliame (Benson) plays Ira's assistant, Fred and Carter (The Thing) plays Glenda's chauffeur/butler, Chester. I grew up watching this and always enjoyed it. Hawn, Chase & Grodin are great together and I like the score too. I recommend this good comedy.

This is second movie with Chevy Chase and Goldie Hawn starring together . The first one was made in the 70's and was titled "Foul play" . I regret that I haven't been able to see that one yet."Just like old times" was written by Neil Simon – the creator of "The Odd couple". It was made in 1980 so it's more in the style of 70's comedy and even it tries to bring back the spirit of earlier comedy's (from 30's and 40's). Quite successfully. The dialogues are rather witty. You need to pay attention to them or else you can miss a lot of jokes. The movie is rather fast paced . Chevy Chase , Goldie Hawn and Charles Grodin all give good performances. There is a lot of cute dogs here."JLOT" is a remake of old movie which used the same story . The huge difference is that old movie was a serious drama while this is a romantic comedy . Or maybe I should say a comedy with some nice love story thrown in.This is kinda forgotten movie from the 80's.Unrightfully . The 80's was a great time for comedies and some good ones might have been overlooked. Don't miss your chance to watch this one. It's a pleasant one to watch. Nothing spectacular , but enjoyable. I give it 6/10.

I always enjoyed this comedy as a kid and even into my adulthood. Nothing all that spectacular about it, you are not going to be taken on a journey through many places and the plot is not going to have a surprise twist to it. However, it is very funny and that is thanks in large part to Chevy Chase, Goldie Hawn, and Charles Grodin. Though I would say most of the cast is superb in this comedy classic. Chevy Chase plays a guy who was once arrested for a crime that he did not really commit. Seems he is a writer and was doing research for a new book, however he ended up spending time in jail (I think a Mexican prison). Well two guys hijack him at his own home and use him to commit a bank robbery. He becomes a wanted man and ends up trying to find a hideout at his ex-wife's place. His ex-wife who just happens to be married to the DA of either the city this film was set in, or all of California. Do not quite remember which. So we get lots of laughs and Chevy tries to hide and Goldie tries to cover for him and hiding the fact that at times he is right under the bed when Charles Grodin (the DA) is in the room. Lots of near misses and such abound in this one that is for sure. I also found it funny how Goldie Hawn's character kept hiring criminals that she defended in court for odd jobs around the house. Yes, she is a defense attorney, who not only collects ex-cons, but also a whole heck of a lot of dogs. Like I said funny movie thanks to the wonderful chemistry of Goldie and Chevy and wonderful acting from the rest of the cast.

After teaming up in "Foul Play," Chevy Chase and Goldie Hawn reunite in this Neil Simon send-up of and tribute to those old-fashioned screwball comedies. It seems that Chevy was minding his own business, when he is kidnapped to rob a bank by two ex-cons, who make a habit of getting trusting faces to do their work for them. They go through with it, with Chevy staring right into the security camera. Being thrown from a moving car afterwards, a bruised Chevy makes his way to his ex-wife, Goldie, who, of course, is now married to the county d.a., played wonderfully by Charles Grodin.At first, it reminded of me "The Talk of the Town," the one where Cary Grant is wanted by the law and Jean Arthur gives him shelter, unwillingly. Then, it felt like those Doris Day/Rock Hudson movies. Then, as it neared its wacky courtroom end, it felt like "What's Up, Doc?" which was a remake of "Bringing Up Baby." With me throwing all these names at you, do you feel like watching an old movie? Well, this will do. The stars' chemistry and charm make for most of the appeal, and it is quite easy to take and pleasant with its presence of 80s stars George Grizzard, T.K. Carter, and Robert Guillaume (from "Soap" and "Benson.") Having said that, it's not as good as Simon's greatest films, like "The Odd Couple," "The Sunshine Boys," and others. (I keep thinking though that 7 is too low and 8 is just a little high. As it won't take a 7.5, I'll give an '8' to give it the benefit of the doubt.) But it is much better than "Foul Play," whose main asset besides Goldie was the very funny Dudley Moore.The viewer may be left wondering about the ending, though. It makes me feel like Neil Simon didn't quite know how to end it, for it stops very abruptly. But, if you're in the mood for some madcap shenanigans and haven't ever seen this, you're in for a treat. "Seems Like Old Times" makes for a good time, courtesy of Neil Simon.
