Martin is a loser, with a mundane life. When he fails an audition as guitar player in Lindsay's band, and loses his job on the way, he makes a deal with a Voodoo priestess. She promises him the fulfilment of all his dreams if he swears obedience to her. He becomes a rock star and has many women - but to stay alive, he has to kill other people........If the main protagonist was an endearing character, the type of person who was a loser,a but deserved of a better life, then you would have some sort of anti-hero to root for.......even if it did mean killing people to survive. But no, Martin is an abhorrent sloth like human being, the type of omnipotent person who thinks that they don't have to work hard to get reach their goals, and if someone is critical of them, they are wrong.Martin is the type of person who spies on naked women, doesn't take kindly to orders, so I thought in some strange way, the gift he would be given, may just change him a little. But no, he turns into a more parasitic morsel, and he's supposed to be the character that the narrative revolves around? The rest of the film is just chock full of bad music, bad hair, and nudity for the sake of nudity. If you haven't heard of this film before, it's for a good reason, it's not very good, and looks cheap.Amid the cheap shots at Ozzy, and featuring minor roles for once prolific actors, Shock 'Em Dead makes no sense, just like its title.Stick with Once Bitten or Vampires Kiss.

Traci Lords is the manager of a popular rock band. A nerd wants to be part of the act so badly that he sells his soul to Satan in order to develop a new look and singing abilities. However, he ends up killing all those who stand in his way of stardom. Lame title, lame film. Not even Lords fans will find this amusing. Made on the cheap with some of the worst effects and acting in history. Watch for the guitar with two necks!Rated R; Nudity, Sexual Situations, Violence, and Profanity.

My theory is that Traci was at this time still trying to get people to take her seriously as an actress and so she could not be choosy as to what came to her. She is getting better roles since this movie came out though. I have seen Extermarital as well as others that she has done and she is good. She was great in Melrose Place, Roseanne, Married with Children, and other television shows.

I'm surprised this movie doesn't have a higher rating than it does. Horror movies about heavy metal bands are always stupid, but this one kept me entertained the whole way through. Unlike other movies like Black Roses or Hard Rock Zombies, this one was actually funny and pretty well made. Definately a good movie.
