rainabosniac I loved how realistic and melodramatic it was (as most teenagers know, everyone sometimes feels the need for a bit of melodrama). It was beautifully awkward, without it being cringey. So realistic and the seemingly minor hardships Oliver encountered seemed very major and dramatic. While managing do to everything I mentioned above, it still kept an indie feel to it and had beautiful soundtrack. Absolutely beautiful, love it from the bottom of my heart. 10.5/10
drew p cock This movie was a pretty darn funny movie. The characters did seem pretty realistic and the acting was all good, I thought the things it said about human nature were intesting and I enjoyed it a lot. I feel that having the characters be flawed even the ones your supposed to like was an very cool choice making it feel more like real life. The movie was very heavily stylized and sometimes it looked really nice other times it was a little distracting. The movie all around was an unexpected gem and knowing nothing about the movie going in I came out with a positive feeling on the movie. 7/10
Vivek A mother explaining to her kid about her being *adventurous* but not *adventurous enough* with the neighbor, while the father manages half a grin at the possibilities that she did not explore. A kid romanticizing life as well as death. Don't we all! This is a beautiful story and the first para here does not even give away the one in top 10 of the story's best parts. So many of us believe that we are older in thoughts than in our age ( Side Note - till we actually become old and pretend to be younger). The movie magnifies the thoughts that a precocious child, or so he thinks he is, goes through. Given our likely disposition to overestimate ourselves, the movie is both funny and nostalgic in a very relatable way!
Blueghost Funny, witty, this film looks at what it would be like to be a therapists in a child's body, and to have your first love inject itself into your life at tender impressionable teenage years. This is a Scottish examination of the period of angst we all suffer growing up. Some young men and women find their first loves early on, others wait until their up in their years. This film looks at both. The parents of a young man with doctor like insights into both himself and his parents, but still have a severe naivete, goes through the motions of life and growing up. Subjected to bullying, subjected to angst ridden women, subjected to neighborly intrigue, our young protagonist seeks out a life righting wrongs and addressing what he sees are problems in the world and his personal life. It's subtle and touching. A few swear words, some mild raunchy humor, this film shows that teenagers who swear and have hormones jumping and running about their system is fairly universal. See it once.
