thatsweetbird What I mean is that this movie is on some level revolting in its very nature - It is exploiting a real life monster for entertainment. It is a both a biopic and a horror movie - Because just to portray what this person did is to portray horror.Although some may find the lead performance a bit over the top I think it's fairly appropriate to what the real person was like. This movie gives much more of a sense of what Bundy really did than the Mark Harmon TV movie "The Deliberate Stranger" showed. His evil, his sadism is veritably pushed in your face. The sexual dimension of his crimes is graphically shown. Now I do think the ending was contrived with the "rape" of Bundy by the guards And the execution of him by an attractive female guard. But a lot of the earlier scenes are all too accurate and believable presentations of his real life. You don't have to embellish his crimes to reach horror.Although there are some memorable scenes in the Nemec-starring "Bundy A Legacy of Evil" Which followed this a few years later And also graphically depicts his sadism I find this the most believable performance of Bundy. Virtually all of it sadly happened as it is depicted.
lastliberal This is a very disturbing film. The rage that was in Ted Bundy (Michael Reilly Burke) was not easy to watch. I don't think they could have found anyone better than Burke to do the character. Smooth and easy to the ladies until he got them where he wanted and then he was maniacal in his treatment. He had a fetish for necrophilia, as he wanted his women almost dead as he raped them. His smooth manner even enabled him to keep the guards off guard after he was arrested facilitating an escape. He managed to escape twice before he had his date with Old Sparky. Even a plea to help solve all the murders he committed, would not save him.He was probably the worst serial killer in history. He was certainly a disgusting man.
Moniquelovesmovies For those of you not familiar with Ted Bundy and his crimes (if that's possible), this is the one to watch. But be prepared, you will have to have the stomach for it, because it is downright, shocking, disturbing, and sick, and it will stay in your mind long after the film is over. A few things i found disappointing about the movie though, were, in parts, the acting left a lot to be desired, the humour was a little over the top (and not really necessary under the circumstances), and there were a few inconsistency's in the story. But for the most part, this was probably the most accurate when it comes down to just how truly depraved his acts were. Nonetheless, as disturbing as it was, it was thoroughly engrossing from start to finish. I highly recommend it.
Chrysanthepop What was Matthew Bright thinking when he made this film? Why did he want to make it? Ted Bundy is one of the most notorious serial killers in the history of True Crime and thus it may have been at least a little interesting to see a movie that included the psychology of this killer and his childhood and even the trial (both of which are intriguing and none were in the film). Normally, I don't like to watch movies about real killers because they run the risk of glamourizing things or appear pretentious and campy. Moreover, on the poster there's a cheap tagline that states something like 'the real Hannibal Lector'. Clearly this was the intent of drawing a crowd. I would much rather watch documentaries or read articles (in any case, this is something I make myself do before watching the movie). Bright's 'Ted Bundy' is halfbaked. It's not entirely true to the facts. Much of it pretty much looks like a series of rape and murder scenes (kind of like the ones you'd see in a cheap slasher flick) patched together while the rest is plain boring. His girlfriend Lee is extremely irritating and if she really was like that, I wonder why he hasn't killed her. 'Ted Bundy' also comes across as misogynistic. All the women in this movie are portrayed as stupid. The last scene, with the children, was supposed to evoke horror but I found this desperate attempt to be hilarious. Michael Reilly Burke isn't a bad actor but he's miscast. Overall, Bright's 'Ted Bundy' is a poorly told and inaccurate story of a cold-blooded killer and a pretentious movie.
