I am still watching this movie at the part when Richard lets her be and the church - fire by candle story and I was like omg who would think about that lol. No explanation to guests that was awesome. And on top of that her prince charming is a fireman so as he comes to rescue her i guess he realizes she is his. I have to disagree with most of the reviewers that this is a good romantic movie.. Its unrealistic because you cannot think that you have a guy as understanding as Richard and a lady so down to earth like Emma. Rather most people would expect the rich guy to marry the rich girl and the fireman to marry the latina shop assistant.. Too bad I guess! I liked the fact that she chose Carl, he did set out to bring her down but thats cool coz it taught her the lesson she needed. He was everything she is not and sometimes that is what you need in life, Richard on the other hand was like a brother, kind , understanding and concerned also they were similar in characters, whereas Carl brought out another side of her which made her happy. Nobody is perfect right so is the movie but it has a nice story... It is about adults who have crossed paths and changed each others lives... Nothing wrong with that. And I shall be going ahead to the rest of the movie 10 mins!

I watched this film because of the cast and director. How bad could it be. Colin Firth, Sam Shepard, Isabella Rossellini, Uma Thurman and Kier Dullea. It was so bad that I was going to turn it off. Everything is bad about this film. The acting of Dean Morgan Jeffrey (whatever his name it or who he is), Uma Thurman, Colin Firth. The direction of Griffin Dunne - horrible. The music - bad, Colin Firth suits - looks like they come from KMart (sorry for the insult KMart). Just skip this. An atrocity. Finally, who would chose the creepy fireman over Colin Firth? I was embarrassed for the actors and myself to watch them say the lines they were given to read. I hope the actors got their payday and that I didn't pay to watch this in a theater. I would have demanded a refund. That bad and not exaggeration.

Saw this last night as I was in the mood for a chick-flick/rom-com, but I really picked the wrong one, obviously.Movies in this genre are supposed to be either funny or romantic (usually both), and entertaining to some degree at least; this was neither.The most annoying thing was the stupid deliberate overacting. I hate Sandra Bullock-type stuff (she is the queen of overacting), so I found it extremely annoying.The lead characters are so unlikeable. It's not the actors' fault, though. Both of them are good actors, but not in THIS movie.This flick is so forgettable... I really don't understand why anyone would consider sponsoring this kind of crap. The money put into making this could've been spent a lot better, really.I'm not saying that they ought to stop making movies altogether and donate the money to the African children instead, but I AM saying that people can do without THIS sort of crap, surely.If you're looking for a decent chick-flick/rom-com, this is not it. Don't waste your time.

(Credit IMDb) When talk radio host Emma Lloyd advises one of her listeners to break up with her boyfriend, the jilted ex sets about getting his revenge. Despite all of the talk about the re-shoots, and how bad this Rom-Com was, I still decided to check it out. I like Uma Thurman, so I thought why the hell not? What a big mistake I made. This movie is extremely superficial, and rather conceded. I don't care how beautiful a woman is. If she was the cause of my break-up, I don't think I'd ever be able to forgive her, let alone fall in love with her. It just felt very silly and contrived to me. There are no laughs, nor did I chuckle very much either. Uma Thurman is decent for the material she is given, but her character isn't all that sympathetic. Jeffrey Dean Morgan is one of the more underrated actors going today, but his character was slightly foolish. Colin Firth tries that English charm of his, to no avail. It's just a really dumb movie3.5/10
