yellowcab643-488-127092 In the seventies I registered at Sunn Classic Pictures (IMDb) in SLC, UT because I saw an ad in the University of Utah Chronicle. I didn't think I made any impression at all at Sunn but, later on I was showering with Elle Mathes and her eyes turned green and filled the room with light. This occurred at the Merced Manor in Stanislaus County, CA and I had to leave from there on foot and live 5 days with no food. The doctor there prescribed to me a drug I never will want even though he had days before given me permission to sleep with Elle so I didn't return. Twenty years later, I was at the Sugarhouse Gold's Gym in Salt Lake City and I asked some familiar members who they thought that girl must have been. They easily identified Elle as Lucifer and an internet search identified Connie Sellecca as a, "girl with glowing green eyes".
smartagurl I fully agree. The images have stuck with me since first seeing this film at the age of 8. Powerful and haunting. How can we get a copy?! I couldn't remember the title, and have been searching or YEARS until this morning when I posted a bulletin on a movie site and someone responded with the ever elusive title, now that I know what it's called, I'm disappointed to find that a copy, CANNOT BE FOUND. I'm sort of desperate to have one. If anyone can point me in the direction of one it would be greatly appreciated! I would just like to see it again and possibly share it with my kids. I don't know WHY it has stuck with me for so long.
jcraddock-2 I have two enduring images from this movie...1. The carved initials the two lovers, as children, showing up years later on the shell of the giant turtle...a very nice touch.2. Carl weathers as an overzealous hunter / fisherman being hauled off into the murky deep as the eerie theme music played out...an interesting way to end the film. I had almost forgotten this film, until it turned up on a random search I did for "TV Movies of the 70's". I can remember how strange it seemed, even at the time - not your usual fare, compared to the choices at the time. I also remember the other Rankin-Bass opus, The Last Dinosaur (and the extraordinarily cheesy theme song...JHC!), having some kind of bittersweet anti-finale, as well. Clearly, there was an ongoing cautionary / environmental agenda going on up in there office...lol...!
dragonreborn_7 I like so many have very fond memories of this movie. I can't explain it I think I was like 9 or 10 when I watched it with my mom and my brother, and to this day we still talk about it and wish we could find it on tape or DVD. I remember my brother recorded the song Jennie because we loved it so much and to this day it still haunts my memory. I beg any movie lover out there to please try to find this and watch it because they don't make movies like this anymore it is so simple in its presentation yet for my money is better than any $100 million Hollywood blockbuster because I forget half of them when I walk out of the theater but I still remember this movie from over 20 years ago. Please I beg anyone who remembers this movie to try to find a way to convince the copyright owner to re-release it on DVD I think they would be surprised at the response it would get.
