mcbclar Between reality and fiction Roy Stuart opens the Door to us of a universe where passion, dance, sex and love merge in the psychological struggle of a woman to regains his freedom and his existential truth.Director Kristina ( Beautiful Mika Ela Fisher )to a dance school de retour at home one evening and surprises his friend on the table of massage in charming company .Unfortunately he there no salvation , all prayer is vain , a dispute broke out and ends in the death of man : jealousy in love, crime of passion , self-défense.Therefore everything changes in the lives of Kristina, the dream turns to the nightmare, mistress wife whith his charming dancers students, she finds herself subject to prison universe of psychiatric hospital where she's locked. The contrast between these two worlds is striking and filmed with great sensitivity and finesse. In flash back as if a dream, popping up its reminicences of free and loving woman, surrounded by nymphettes , half women , half creatures that's love nicely...Happy end shall we say , it is all even a justice since Kristina will be saved by a young lesbian psychiatrist(Anna Bielska) who he can avoid prison.Heaven has beautiful scold somethere in the forest: evil is ,Kristina will be released not unscathed from this experience : the age , a confinement , a crime on the heart , intimate confessions as a psychological rape , the reverse of the medal shall we say , the Door closes it , there nothing to say .To see and listen to dialogues snappy and intelligent, aesthetic images enchantements and a music deliciously intoxicating .A little masterpiece of work in the genre .( For adults only ).
milena04 When I saw the film, I was disappointed.Mr.Stuart is very expressive as photographer, what unfortunately I cannot say from his work as filmmaker.I have the impression he put picture to picture, but forgot content and message. It seems, he was lost in The Lost Door and had problems to make the story together. What I enjoyed:The music - original and emotional. And the characters of Kristina and Catherine: - credible and absolutely authentic. Thanks to the outstanding performance of Mikaela Fisher and Anna Bielska the film has a professional touch. With your abilities, Mr. Stuart and the talent of such actors you would be able to do an exceptional work in future.
Josh G The Lost Door is an erotic thriller that straddles the line between fantasy and reality. This interplay is already a dominant theme in Stuart's photography and it is explored in a new light with the added complexities of dialogue, motion and music. The driving energy of this film derives from imbalanced relationships- captor and inmate; teacher and student; lover and seducer... The roles of domination and submission are in continuous flux; fantasy and reality become alternately indistinguishable as characters surrender to their desires and then succumb to reason. The cast of actors perform passionately and Nicole Auberger is a particular standout- both for her endearing naivety and phenomenal beauty. The musical score heightens the romance and intrigue, with sudden pauses of silence applied to good dramatic effect. Quirky details indulge us with insight into Stuart's creative mind: carefully captured reflections off a pair of sunglasses, the odd line of dialogue in Chinese, the humor of a tree shaped like a vulva. The outtakes and supplemental scenes are a must-see, particularly the beggar who fakes an injured leg. Stuart likes to explore different fantasies in his work and the hot beggar is a good one. Anybody who has spent time around Paris will understand. This is a complex and multifaceted film, the type that you will want to watch at least once.
Erographic "The Lost Door" to me, is a poetic roller-coaster trip. What I mean by that, is that the viewer may be overwhelmed by the film. There is so much to see! You really need to see the film more than once to fully appreciate it. Kristina's memories, I call them "glimpses from her mind", are filmed in a visually beautiful way and accompanied with poems and great music, that is composed by Roy Stuart himself. I think they are pieces of art in themselves. I have seen "The Lost Door" several times now and I think it is a piece of art and a must see! The visuals, the sound and the story makes you think.
