msdeelite72 So many bad reviews for a movie that was made for less than $100,000, come on people you guys act like your actual movie critics. I bet most of you don't even know good horror when you see it. Yes, the film has some flaws but many of the performances are good, the soundtrack is retro old school and come on Reggie Banister is in this! A decent horror flick when you think of how small the budget was! I liked it! I have seen much worse! The movie is shot in mostly one location because of the budget, some of the actors weren't as good as you would like but come on this is horror! I also love the opening sequence with the newspaper articles, cool concept. I also thought Hadley was very creepy especially when he says "I am the machine"..cool soundtrack, some creepy moments, not too shabby!
Dr Jacques COULARDEAU How strange Stephen King sells his name and reputation for those Z series films that obviously only aim at making money, and even not too much, but with a small budget to start with it is not so bad after all. That Mangler should never have been reborn. The original was at least the morbid fantasizing of what Stephen King suffered in the summer when he was a high school teacher: he worked in a laundry factory and he worked with such pressing machines that could turn criminal, with no security and the bosses who did not want to spend one cent on security, as if blue collar workers were supposed to be kept secure. After all, accidents were the privilege of all these salary-hungry people. But in this film we are left with a Joe the plumber turned vampire and the Mangler is his revived invention, machine or whatever that provides him with his pint of blood everyday. It is not even entertaining. Too gross to be, too disgusting to even be horrible or terrible, certainly not even terrific, though after a little while you may have some sudden desire to vomit. Have some good blood cocktail on the house.Dr Jacques COULARDEAU, University Paris Dauphine, University Paris 1 Pantheon Sorbonne & University Versailles Saint Quentin en Yvelines
ooosanteooo This is one crazy and bad bad movie. I usually like B Horror movies, but this one is just over the top. The only thing, I repeat the ONLY thing worth to watch is the split second shower scene of Aimee, and thats only 1 sec long so really - there is nothing interesting in this film. The acting is over the top bad. You can notice that the conversations are not synced properly, i.e. the one stops after a pause the other resumes .. i mean its so bad, its ridiculous. I think I would have done a better job. Especially the scene where the two thugs are in the car an the father smokes one cigarette after the other, everything is so lame and; ridiculous, what more can I say. The gore is practically inexistent, the so-called horror scenes are very badly done. Only one scene was good, where Hadley takes something out of his eye or similar. However I must say there was something compelling about the film which made me watch it until the end. Its just so bad that it will make you watch it. I pity my 2€ for renting this garbage, not even the shower scene can make up to this starring the very beautiful Aimee Brooks. Good things will come!
sheridw I don't know...it didn't have a plot worth mentioning and it paced itself in such a way that you might expect from a film troubled with having to tell a ninety minute story without a story. However, it does make up for this with some finely crafted images. My favorite scene is when the protagonist kidnaps a woman from her front yard. It works, because it seems so real. There is a blandness to most of the set, intentional or accidental, that helps to bring several scenes like this one home to the viewer. Most of the film will grab your attention this way despite a ridiculous and sometimes embarrassing screenplay. So, while there is much better out there, horror fans might want to give this one a chance.
