jmhart-1 Having read the book, my wife and I both commented at the end of the movie, "What happened to the book?" In the book, Elise has been dumped on by her ex-husband and best friend. She has a dull job where she is put down by Zoey, has no friends and harbors a secret that drags her down. Not like Elise in the movie. Although a partner at his law firm, Nick is also lonely and harbors a secret that drags him down. In the movie, Elise and Nick come closer together and in the end, you expect them to tell each other their secrets, but it never happens. That is what makes the book so good. If you have two hours to spend, forget the movie and read the book. You will feel a lot better.
Christmas-Reviewer BEWARE OF FALSE REVIEWS & REVIEWERS. SOME REVIEWERS HAVE ONLY ONE REVIEW TO THEIR NAME. NOW WHEN ITS A POSITIVE REVIEW THAT TELLS ME THEY WERE INVOLVED WITH THE FILM. IF ITS A NEGATIVE REVIEW THEN THEY MIGHT HAVE A GRUDGE AGAINST THE FILM . NOW I HAVE REVIEWED OVER 200 HOLIDAY FILMS. I HAVE NO AGENDA. I AM HONEST! This is a new Christmas Movie in 2016 that is part of the "Countdown to Christmas" on the Hallmark Channel. The film however fails to add anything new and the male lead is so miscast that harms the entire film. Now in this film is about two strangers who share a disdain for Christmas results in The Mistletoe Promise, a pact to help them navigate their holiday complications – together. But as they spend more time with each other and experience the magic of Christmas the phony couple discovers there may be more to their contract than business. The male lead however in this film is very good looking so it is hard to believe that he "doesn't have a girlfriend". They needed to cast someone that wasn't so good looking. Now the acting is fine and the pacing is fine. The script however isn't. You can connect the dots and know how it will end. I think this film should of taken some chances and not give the ending we would expect. It would of been nice had then been a few more complications that danger this fake couples cover. Now if you haven't seen too many Christmas movies you "might" like this.
clairelu60 As a lover of the "feel-good", slightly cheesy hallmark movies, I was very excited to watch this movie. I was, however, extremely disappointed by the quality.I never really expect any giant plot twists or any excellent writing; the hallmark movies are known for their stories that just make you feel good. This movie had no story. The plot is extremely boring, as it follows the premise of the summary exactly. The whole movies follows this one "couple" pretending to be in love. Nothing interesting or even believable happens. In fact, I can't believe that either of them hated Christmas in the first place because the second they spend time together, they start loving Christmas. The acting in his film is not great and nothing happens to these two characters. They don't even fall in love until the very end, when they are suddenly so in love, after having stated about a million times that their arrangement was just a business arrangement. If you have a few hours to kill, I suggest another hallmark Christmas movie.
jpmccann5 Loved the book by Richard Paul Evans. This movie "based on" the book actually had almost nothing in common with the book. The names of the characters, their jobs, and the fact that they made an agreement to be one another's companions for a few weeks until Christmas were the only parts of the story that even vaguely resembled the book. This was a totally different story! The book had mystery and substance. The book showed a dramatic character arc as both protagonists eventually fell in love, shared their innermost secrets and found they were still loved. The movie is stupid. HALLMARK, why would you make such drastic changes to a perfect story?
