gawdsmakk This is the worst movie ever made , bar none. five starts, are you kidding- the fact that any human being would rate this five stars could be used as a way to diagnose psychological disorders!i knew there were tons of nutcases in the world and all the 5 star ratings just absolutely proves this ! this movie would make a great pizza since it has super double extra cheese ! even for 1970 its horrid. the animation looks plain simple and awful. the story line is ridiculous. a watch dog with a clock? a clock is not a watch,so thats not clever, unless maybe you are 4 and dont know any better. plus he barks a lot, and his clock keeps ringing like an obnoxious alarm clock ! in fact im quite sure itd be more entertaining to just listen to an obnoxious alarm clark while listening to dogs bark, than to waste any moment of time watching this horrid movie. I think i will have nightmares about it for years to come. it should be used as a legitimate method of torture. the singing by the main characters is the worst sounding karaoke sounds, to put it simply i could sing better and i sound terrible singing ! um i could go on and on. this movie should be banned. its not worth the dvd its recorded on. its a waste of resources for it to continue to be printed and sold, or to exist. staring at a blank wall would be far more entertaining and less obnoxious than watching this movie.i would not watch it again unless you paid me at least $1000 dollars and i was aloud to wear earplugs. this just proves all the movie review websites are crooked and corrupt, to give this movie anything more than one half a star is a complete and total lie. if theres an audience for everything, there must be an audience that enjoys watching poop floating in a pool, because that would be far more entertaining than this movie, and less annoying too!
LeonLouisRicci Troubled and Hampered Animated Feature from Legendary WB Cartoonist Chuck Jones. Based on the Book by Norton Juster, Published in 1961.This is an Underrated, Overlooked, and Forgotten Film that was Ignored, Botched, and Not Bothered With by MGM as the Studio was On Life Support and Disintegrating. There was Trouble in Paradise and this Movie Suffered from Budget Shortfalls and Lack of Promotion, and was Mostly Abandon as the Studio was Indifferent and was Infected with Infighting. It is a Clever and Interesting Amalgamation of Dr. Seuss, Disney, WB Shorts, The Wizard of Oz, Alice in Wonderland, and Psychedelia. The Movie doesn't Quite Match the Charm of its Inspirations, but is Nevertheless a Noble Attempt to Make an Educational, Inspirational, Entertainment. Sesame Street Sensibilities can be Found in Abundance.Overall it is a Plethora of Pleasures with Gargantuan Amounts of Word Play, Puns, and Witticisms that Can Challenge Younger Viewers and Charm Older Kids and Adults. The Script is Better than the Animation where the Lack of Funds Diminishes the Art a bit, but it is Good Enough to be Enjoyable and Somewhat Surreal if Lacking a Certain Amount of Depth.Still the Film Remains a Unique Experiment and it Reflects the Talent of its Creators and Delivers an Offbeat and Intriguing Intellectual Concern and Attempts to Raise the Consciousness of its Target Audience Out of the Doldrums.
gavin6942 Milo (Butch Patrick) is a boy who is bored with life. One day he comes home to find a toll booth in his room. Having nothing better to do, he gets in his toy car and drives through, only to emerge in a world full of adventure. This film is pretty good, and the animation is quite well-done. Fans of Chuck Jones will appreciate it, as will fans of the book. Some of it (especially the music) is a bit dated, but it can be excused. And how can a young Eddie Munster be a bad thing? I strongly recommend reading the book before watching this. The film jumps from one scene to the next very quickly, and sometimes not even in the same order. Some parts are left out entirely (though I did not mind the exclusion of Alec, whom I found quite annoying). I think those who read the book will better appreciate the film.Would I like to see a remake of this? Perhaps. But I think it would hold up fine if touched up. I watched a very old VHS copy. Perhaps the DVD is better, but my guess is they did not put much into it.
battlebeast The Phantom Tollbooth is warped movie from the warped mind of the great Chuck Jones.Milo, an ordinary boy, is bored with life. One day he receives a tollbooth as a present. This Tollbooth will supposedly take him out of his boredom.Milo enters the Tollbooth and is instantly changed into a cartoon character. From here on in, he journeys to the "Whether" man, into the doldrums, meets tock, the watchdog, and onward to Dictionopolis and the Kingdom of Numbers in order to save Rhyme and Reason. The movie is twisted in every which way; there are plenty of songs the make no sense but make you laugh out loud. The Animation is typical "Looney Tunes" style but works very well with the quirky plot. The Phantom Tollbooth is a lost gem the deserves DVD treatment in the worst way. Lets hope one day soon that this diamond in the rough will find a new generation of children!
