In The Wylds, young Chris (Solomon Ray) is a runaway living with a group of other misfit kids in a junkyard, all under the watchful eye of a Dickens-esque character who forces them to steal to survive. When Chris is caught pilfering at a church, the pastor protects him from the police, then challenges him to find his estranged father. Chris bravely chooses to leave his family of thieves and ventures into the wilderness in search of a better life. Traveling through a post-apocalyptic future – his only hope lies in reaching a heavenly paradise that will surpass his wildest dreams – he outwits bandits, escapes swamp monsters, battles evil robots and learns valuable life lessons about choosing the right path."

Reviews

PuddleglumMarshwiggle I was perplexed at the nasty campaign of reviews on this site until I realized that they were exactly that, a campaign and all from a very limited/related geographical region. A rather poor campaign (of ignorance) at that, especially as the film's cover explains both that this is a retelling of a FAMOUS (332 years of acclaim) Christian allegory and explicitly quotes Christian Scripture. Having loved John Bunyan's allegorical, though very difficult to read story of Christian's journey from Destruction to the Cross and then on to the Celestial City for most of my life, I enjoyed every minute of this film even (perhaps especially because of) the goofy bits and the Original Doctor Who like special FX. When Christian and Faith are reunited at the end (hardly a spoiler), I actually cried.Despite macro-time and low budget, they still managed to include most major highlights, Destruction, Evangelist, Slough of Despond, Worldly Wiseman, Wicket Gate, Cross & Burden, Giant of Despair, Vainglory, Vanity Fair, Apollyon and Beelzebub and arrows, The River and the Celestial City. They even have Worldly Wiseman introduce himself with a delightfully awful filk of Modern Major General from The Pirates of Penzance, and a parody of The Matrix using hamster wheels!
djbarryb Got the movie at Walmart for 5 bucks. Even if they were giving it away it would have been a crime. It looks like the movie was made for about $100 bucks. I hope they didn't pay the cast much money. They couldn't act even if they took lessons. The only good reviews of the movie on here were probably from people involved with the film. Someone learned how to use a cheap camera and thought they could make a movie. The special effects made me almost cry. I could have done better myself. The only one that has a chance of a career might be the boy who played Chris. There is a slight chance if he takes a few more acting lessons. As for everyone else, keep your day job. There is more to come from this studio, so keep an eye out so you don't get let down again. Special effects, acting, and story all awful! Save your money and time!
Mikelane1987 Brought in Tesco for £2 thought it looked good.Got home watched & basically wasted about 2 hours of my life. It's thinly disguised religious junk, for those of you who are not religious give this film a miss.Basically the plot has a lot to do with things in the bible, over coming trouble (if you repent the heavenly father will accept you with open arms).Don't waste your money or you time.Would have given it half a star but the ratings don't go that low. The tag lines are not true. It's not an adventure film at all. On the case it says it's like the chronicles of Narnia whoever wrote that did so only to make people buy this drek.
mikou_3 Wow.... is all i gotta say. Look at all those positive reviews and the fact that its the only review most of the users have ever made. All the visual effects and scenery are breathtaking?? First thing that comes to mind is substance abuse when i read that other review. Never in my life have i seen a more poorly constructed movie. Its as if they just had a couple extra cameras lying about and some tall guy started juggling them and decided to make a movie out of the footage from it. This movie is beyond terrible, It seems to just defy words. How anyone could write that first review without breaking into laughter or wetting themselves (which i'm sure the publisher did on release) is beyond me. Since the advent of affordable hd camera equipment we seem to be getting a never ending barrage of crappy independent movies. This needs to stop and it needs to stop now before more people are hurt.
