Atilla Bleicher When I watch movies, I let them sink in a bit, so I can speak about them without any feelings. This movie, without doubt, was one of the best "lost tape" genre films I've ever watched.I really liked the story-line, and how well the film stays half document genre. The build up is a bit long, but its worth the waiting. I had no problem with the actors, some are casual, but some really do their best. I loved the special effects, it was a quality work, plus all the trolls looked unique.Which I didn't like was the causal ending. The movie has a unique story line IMHO. I recommend it. 7/10
DogFilmCritic This movie look so ridiculous the fist time I saw the cover but I'm so glad it proved me wrong, I really liked it for something so simple the idea was great, a bunch of collage students go following a troll hunter on his daily routine, the CGI was pretty amazing not perfect but way better that say the mummy returns and Gods of Egypt.A unique way to justify the style of found footage with the subject of folklore making it very creative. I was so glad this movie doesn't suffer from the headache inducing shaky-cam that some other found footage fall into. This proves with good ideas you can do a great film everything is placed on how you tell the story and with great characters the combination is perfect.I say give it a watch, I guarantee it will surprise you.
LightDarkness14 I began this year by checking out a film that I didn't really like the first time I watched it. In fact, to be honest, I thought it was so lame that I didn't even finish it. However, after continuing to hear nothing but good things about it after all these years I decided I should give it another chance. This time I entered in with a more open mind, but this film still didn't impress me as much as I feel it should. Admittedly, I still have an incredibly hard time suspending my disbelief long enough to entertain that thought that trolls can exist. For me, this concept is not really scary and cannot really be taken seriously. That being said, this isn't a bad film. The effects are absolutely amazing for a low-budget picture. The CGI here puts it's American counterparts to shame. This is some of the best, most convincing CGI I've seen since Jurassic Park. And even though I find it somewhat cheesy, the concept of "Trollhunting" is original and fascinating. There's also a few scenes that are actually pretty suspenseful and the film closes out on a nice, aptly tongue-in-cheek moment. This isn't a great film, in my opinion, but it's an original, worthwhile endeavor that warrants a watch.
Kevin McCormick This film was amazingly done. The story, the acting, the CGI, everything. Even if you do not like foreign films or are turned off by having to read the subtitles, the beauty of the Norwegian landscape is worth every minute. I do not know much about Norwegian culture, but troll lore I know seems to be done very well. The story is fantastic, and I can relate to government cover ups. Here in the Midwest our department of natural resources tries to convince people Cougars do not exist, although they were caught reintroducing them years ago, and hundreds of trail cam pictures. The CGI work of the trolls is fantastic, but in some ways kind of wished the trolls to be smarter and more social. If you like fantasy films, definitely watch this film!
