SillyGayBoy This movie is both hilarious and ridiculous. It is totally weird and insane and totally funny at the same time.I was so happy when I watched this movie. I bet stoners would love this movie too, just seems like something they would. It has the ability to surprise and be funny and fun and be totally weird at the same time. The characters are doofuses but they are wonderful doofuses that get into ridiculous shanannigans with each other. They do stuff that is inappropriate but twist it around to make it funny and I like how they do it. I don't give spoilers just see it. It made me so happy.
room102 This movie is almost like a comic version of "Bad Lieutenant".Directed by Quentin Dupieux, a.k.a. Mr. Oizo, who also directed "Wrong (2012)", so you should know how weird this movie can get.Like "Wrong", this movie has a strange style, strange story line, strange cinematography (especially those sudden and random zooms), strange writing. Everything about it is strange. But it's funnier than "Wrong".And if that's not weird enough, you should see the mini-guest (almost cameo) role by Marylin Manson - the movie is worth watching for that scene alone (clue: An almost unrecognizable Marylin Manson without makeup, plays an insecure teenager who listens to electronic music). There are also two cameos by Jonathan Lajoie, one of them as rapper "E=MC Vagina" (you might miss it if you blink).
haphazard72 I managed to get through about 18 minutes of this. What a load of rubbish! Does anyone know how I can get that 18 minutes of my life back? I mean this is seriously a rubbish movie! (I'd swear but I don't think it'll get approved by the moderators...) Not funny.Stupid.I mean I like movies where cops are portrayed as crooked (Training Day), or cops that are funny (Police Academy), or cops in a realistic movie (End of Watch), but this???? I don't know what other reviewers saw in this? Whatever they've been smoking, maybe I need to do the same.Or perhaps not....Save your time- don't watch this rubbish.
littleiceagerecords Quentin Dupieux's films are not for everyone, but if you're looking for a very fun, absurdist film you're going to love Wrong Cops.I can't understand why other reviewers hate on this film so much. I watched it and laughed my ass off and had a great time. It's my favorite film of the past year. It's deadpan absurdity, a sequence of slightly the surreal encounters of a police force that does more harm than good, who spend their time selling drugs, refusing to investigate crimes, and composing house music. Dupieux's films collectively are like a breath of fresh air in a stodgy and self-important film culture. The plot of Wrong Cops is loose and it almost feels like a piece written for the stage. It's all about the slightly twisted encounters - from scene to scene there is no way to predict where the film will take you, and once it takes you there there's no way to know exactly where you are. This kind of mischievous disorientation can be very fun if you just let go and take the ride.If you like David Lynch, Alejandro Jodorowsky, etc. - films that go over the top with their surrealism and absurdity, films that never feel quite comfortable and familiar yet which you can't look away from, you will love this film. If you're looking for standard fare, just don't watch it. It will probably make you angry.
