J_kotowicz I'm a zombie fan. I am a zombie movie fan. I am a zombie liturature fan. I am a zombie philospher. Home, at work, the science of the undead is always on my mind. Zombie Honeymoon, was thee most asinine, horrible, contrite...hodgepodge of b.s, ever, and that is my respectful opinion of it. Exactly, 20 minutes in I began watching it on 1.5 Speed. The newly weds ran on the beach, surfted on puny waves and had sex in inapproprate places. Then a seaweed cloaked zombie climbed up from the deep. Then..Vomited bile on the groom and...expired? Then the groom dies, choaking, perhaps. But really, he writhes for a second and like a candle in the wind, he is gone. To the hospital, he suddenly breaths again! Hallijulia! and feeling pretty good for being exceedinly, lifelessly, dead for 10 minutes, The Groom and Wife go home, la-de-da, wasn't that exciting? Sex. Then She...drives, and drives, and drives as a semi-polluted NJ creeps by to a store. Now, we watch on x10 speed. Then there is a cop, a returned surfboard, a missing man and "this is the strangest thing to happen." ever. In NJ. ...Slowly, painfully slow, the Groom rots and his enevitable zombie urge begins. And by the power of true love,he won't eat his wife. But everyone else, biting faces, arms, noses, wrists, necks, while he falls apart, breaks into sores and chokes on his words. SURELY, seeing your husband, the love of your life, waste away into an abomination is better than simply, ending the misery. Yes, that is how i like my love ones, committing atrocities so we can stay together. ...The movie ends. The bride escapes, laughing, crying, all at x130 speed. ...Showtime will endorse anything.
Quebec_Dragon I was immediately attracted to the concept of the film even though I suspected it was very low-budget. I think there is great potential in a gripping and profoundly touching zombie-human romance, provided it avoids most of the camp. Zombie Honeymoon doesn't succeed although it does have good points. It's played realistically, it takes time to establish that the 2 protagonists are passionately in love and it mostly avoids camp (but not totally). The newlywed husband gets attacked on the beach by a sick man coming out of the water. After a certain fright, the husband seems normal but gradual hints (and the trailer) tell us he might be slowly becoming a zombie.Actually, the whole premise of the film hinges on the wife's reaction at the first discovery she cannot deny. The main actress was very good but the whole scene didn't seem quite right to me. Don't know if it was the writing or the male lead. However, one could go beyond that if other scenes later on didn't take us out of the story by their ridiculousness or unbelievability especially whenever the husband was in public. Some of the scenes seemed to drag on for no good reason such as the wife's car ride or the (boring) policeman's interrogation. On the other hand, the finale, starting with the candlelight diner had a few memorable moments such as the husband going about his "business" while the wife is locked in her room watching TV. Quite unnerving.I know their financial means were likely quite limited but the constantly bloody face of the husband was more distracting than horrifying. The eventually blue-gray "zombie" makeup was pretty lacking in its different stages. I think the friends would have freaked out more during the palm reading session as the face of the husband had so badly deteriorated compared to earlier. The film does have bloody moments but nothing particularly gruesome. The camera doesn't linger and/or it's too dark. Unfortunately, although I think the initial concept could have made a very good romantic/psychological drama movie even with no budget, the uninspired writing, the conventional directing and most of the acting (except the wife) just didn't cut it. Rating: 4.5 out of 10 (Poor with some highlights)(2014 Edit: Since that review, I saw Warm Bodies that is the closest thing I've seen to the great zombie romance. Not quite there, but recommended. I've also reviewed it.
Julian Ferris Well, ill have to say this is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. The only reason why have given this movie a two is because I found some parts of the movie, " funny ". Not because of what the movie had to put forward to the viewers but because of how much it sucked! The directing sucked, the acting sucked, nearly everything of the movie just, sucked. I say nearly, because there were some " gruesome parts " in the movie, but it simply got the movie nowhere. The plot killed it, how can a wife continue to act normal after her husband randomly eats a man man?, and she cleans up the bloody mess for him with a jolly music background! In My opinion, DO NOT waste your time watching this. Don't get fooled by the some bits of gore because in the end the movie will just waste your time like it did with me.
Scarecrow-88 Newly married couple, Denise(Tracy Coogan)& Danny(Graham Sibley)face a major unusual crisis that will certainly test their love for one another..he is infected with blood he consumed when a zombie, who emerged mysteriously from the sea as they were laying on the beach, vomits in his mouth. Danny dies later then awakens to the attending medical staff and Denise's surprise. Later Denise finds that Danny is eating the flesh of a hefty neighbor setting off the rest of the plot about coping with a major problem that will only get worse. Soon the unquenchable, insatiable hunger for flesh due to the infectious craving in his belly will drive Danny to kill nearly anyone in his sight munching down without restraint as blood soaks his skin and clothes. Denise will have to somehow come to terms with the fact that Danny, her beloved husband, is a member of the undead and can not be saved from his affliction. Nikki(Tonya Cornelisse)and Buddy(David M Wallace)are their friends who will soon see the effects of being a zombie themselves. As the film continues, Danny begins to decay. Here's the thing about this movie..despite how outrageous and gruesome the flesh-eating gets, the film remains firm in establishing this devotion and love between these two people facing a very difficult situation out of their control. Nothing like I expected..I figured it up the comedy quotient considerably, but about half-way through, when the violence escalates and Danny's lost control of this hunger, it gets dead serious. The comedy within the story is more subtle than goofy. Not a bad little film;quite serious in overall tone despite a macabre wink to the zombie genre.
