gilbynziggy This show ran on CBS, either right before or right after "Freshman Dorm". Unfourtunately, I've read the propaganda prepared by the show publicity department, I Feel qualified to pass judgment on it. Produced by the ubiquitous Aaron Spelling, the show stars a veritable bevy of has-beens who were on the comeback trail in 1992. Jennifer Beals ('Flashdance' came 7 years before), Drew Barrymore (who we all now love), and the tasty snack Brian Bloom (who at the time was conspicuously absent from his roles in soap operas three years prior to this), the poorly dressed Lisa Hartman and some chick named Tuesday Knight. Lisa plays a retired prostitute who gets some boarders so she can afford her knockout house on the beach. Jennifer Beals is an attorney whose fiancé had recently died. Drew plays an aspiring actress (how fitting considering her reputation back then). I, for one, can't wait for this to be released on DVD. There's nothing like a show about plastic California people to help you forget your woes! B+
thebuddhadharma I completely agree with Shaun....this show rocked! I forgot about it until I accidentally got here through another actor's name, go figure! This series was so stylish and sexy, each and every episode got better and better. I remember being so upset that it didn't survive more than one season, because the actors, especially Lisa Hartman, Jennifer Beals and Drew Barrymore, all played off of each other wonderfully. I knew nothing of the cost involved in producing the show but man, for us fans, it was definitely worth it. Aaron Spelling, if you still own this show, please release the entire series on DVD for the old fans, and for future fans to enjoy! Peace!
shaunie921 Being the fact that the show debuted on CBS, that was the possibly the first mistake. However, it was a great show and had great storylines and a potential out of this world to be a big hit. But I remember reading somewhere that the show was too expensive to produce, over $1 million an episode but think about the first rate cast it had. Led by movie actresses Drew Barrymore and Jennifer Beals, and TV vet Lisa Hartman, this show rocked. Besides behind the scenes read like a who's who of Hollywood, produced by TV legend Aaron Spelling, directed by Hollywood hit maker Joel Schumacher, who also directed such huge blockbusters as Batman Forever & A Time To Kill. And it was created and written by L.A. Law creator Louise Fischer. This show was much better than Melrose Place, which started off weak but grew stronger after Heather Locklear's entrance, but 2000 Malibu Road started off hot and ended much, much hotter. Leaving viewers with several cliffhangers. The real find of the show however was Tuesday Knight who played the chunky, obsessive sister Joy to Drew Barrymore's Lindsey. With Joy being struck by lightning in the final episode you didn't know if she survived but being that she was getting her comeuppance for her voodoo involvement, one couldn't help but wonder what ever happened to these fabulous characters.
stevespano I remember this debut at #1 or #2 -it was riding on the tails of Melrose Place and had Drew Barrymore. It was great trash that while it fell in the ratings a little was one night time soap that if it came back the next year would have stole the spotlight from Melrose Place the same way Dynasty did from Dallas.
