jpbowhunt I love this show, while it's coming to an end I'm crying cause they need to make more seasons, yes it got canceled but it needs to c9me back, I'm sure if they make more and advertise it more, theyll get more views and ratings. Please everyone help get this tv show back on the air. Everyone mostly gives this mostly good reviews and ratings but we really should get this back up and going, everyone please try and get the producers to give us the views another chance to give this show a chance please.
PGrays Season 1 gives a promising start, but unfortunately fails to keep viewers interested in any of the following seasons. This is because of a poor script, lack of chemistry among the actors who fail to appear convincing about their decisions (let alone convince the viewer) and a lot of repetition in scenes and lines which understandably cause any viewer to say 'enough'.Script : Season 1 manages to grab interest in the viewer through the fact that Cat devotes her life in finding out why her mum was killed, who saved her and whether the beast she witnessed 10 years ago actually exists. There appears to be some form of chemistry among Kristin and Jay which allows for the season 1 to end in a promising manner. Nonetheless, through seasons 2-4, the poor script is one of the reasons why interest and generally any sense is lost. By the end of season 4 the viewer has no idea who the threat is (if there is actually a threat), why the characters make certain decisions - nonsensical ones as they keep insisting that they want a 'happily ever after' but still implicate themselves in situations in order to find a threat and keep the viewer watching. Acting: A point of credit is that Kristin Kreuk is a good actress who keeps the show running with convincing emotions and thoughts. Nonetheless, this is outweighed by her partner's lack of any acting skills (Nina Lisandrello) which leads to laughable outcomes when her same poker face presents feelings of anger, happiness and irony. Ray Jay appears flat in most of the acting, something which is evident throught the series.Repetition: The poor script leads to largely repetitive scenes of the characters trying to deal with beasts, fighting them in the same manner, winning in the same manner, implicating themselves once again in the same manner. Lack of imagination leads to the viewer feeling overwhelmed by the amount of repetition in every aspect of the plot. Lines are repeated a number of times (Characters mentioning that they want to live 'a normal life' and get a 'happily ever after' about 2-3 times in every episode).Unanswered Questions: Evidently the series finish in a manner which leaves unanswered questions to everyone. Cat is taking a pregnancy tests twice, makes it clear that she wants a baby but Vincent is highly sceptical of a possible 'beast baby'. The series end in a happily ever after for the couple who apparently solves the 'pregnancy issue' in a way that nobody finds out.
juliedowling I wrote this in scattered waffling prose I think but...I have only been watching this show for a little over a month.I heard it was being canceled and it's quietly proved to be a moment in my life which I won't forget easily. Jay Ryan is quite frankly an exceptional actor. His complete acting range is rare & truly breathtaking. In Beauty & the Beast Jay Ryan's dramatic skill flew high into the range of multi-award winning performances I've seen to date. His skill within dramatic moments in this character of Vincent Keller were laced with a quiet serenity and at times horror of his own actions. It's his skill in acting that makes this character believable and highly emotional. Never have I seen an actor do this with such deftness and ease of delivery... Comedic turns were whimsical, boyishly sweet, textured with self delight, deprecating and affectionate. A nuanced vulnerability made me want to reach into the screen to be friends. He has on screen mesmerizing charm and masculinity that is beguiling.Ryan didn't betray the viewers trust for an instant on comedic and dramatic delivery and in doing that it takes infinite skill and regard for his audience. It was beyond a privilege to watch him. His performances led me on a personal journey with him, stealing the show and making it his. I'll be following his acting career after watching this series. The production was quick paced and believable. The ensemble of actors were excellent. One word to describe this series with Jay Ryan in it is breathtaking. This show redefines TV series drama in many ways but Jay Ryan's performance in the lead male role of Vincent Keller, the beast, kept me riveted to the screen. I'll be watching the entire 4 series in re-run till the DVD's wear out or iTunes fades away into binary 0+1. My rating: 10/10
westsideschl Let's start with: 1. The manufactured robotic acting. Say a short line (because that's all that can be memorized); cut, edit, repeat over and over. 2. Juvenile, simplistic cliché driven dialogue (beastie growl sounds like a tortured sheep). 3. Cheap production sets & props (i.e. beastie doc can be identified by unused stethoscope in Hollywood placement hanging around the neck; 95% of the show is cheaply composed of rooms with just talking heads). 4. Script is at the unimaginative level of early afternoon daytime soaps for the those who hang around the house for whatever excitement a TV can bring. Typical "stupid science"; stupid in the sense that it's presented as real, and you have to be to swallow even a teaspoon of it. 5. Actors chosen as eye candy (their only redeemable quality) to attract the soaps- crowd. Typical racial, ethnic and gender mix to reach an expanded audience to attract viewing demographics and their money. 6. Directing & camera work again is focused mostly upon talking heads with slo-mo cheaply resurrected from the '80s.
