i'm a sucker for supernatural flick. so when i heard about this show, of course i was excited. i watched the first episode and hooked for the rest of the season. the show is not just focusing on supernatural stuff but also relationship, love, friends, and funny stuff too. too bad it ended pretty quick. but perfect ending by the way.i hate it how people always comparing this version with British version. for me, i don't feel the need to compare both show since i watched only US version. but i do think that both version did have its own strengths and weaknesses. so be reasonable when comparing it because the target audience is different for both version.the cast? i love it. i love the main characters. they fit the character really well. bottom line, i really recommend you guys to at least give it a go for this show. watch the first episode, and if you like it, continue watching, if you don't like it, just find other show to watch without spreading your hatred here.

This review is based only on seasons 1 and 2.I would like to preface this rant by saying that I shamelessly binge-watch this show on Netflix whenever I'm bored. I love vampire and werewolf stories so much that I keep watching, despite the show's glaring issues. And there's plenty of eye candy. And I have a soft spot for Josh. But by the 2nd or 3rd episode of my Being Human spree, I start yelling taunts at the characters (and sometimes the writers) whenever they speak. It is a totally infuriating show.So. The primary characters and some of the side characters are decently acted. They might even be believable, if they weren't all so schizophrenic. The characters' moral values will basically change at the drop of the hat. And each moral lapse is followed by an absurd angst-fest.The chemistry between the roommates is believable, except that they're all so tied up in their own issues that they seem to stop home only to drop some atomic-bomb-class bad news on their roomies. There are a lot of awkward scenes where Sally, Josh, and Aiden all walk into the living room with bad news at the same time and have to go around the table with their respective crises to decide which of them deserves the biggest pity party. The exception to this breakneck plot advancement is that Sally doesn't really progress as a character for most of the first season- she has about2 major story arcs and otherwise tries to help the guys, with limited success.I find it vaguely sexist that the boys are usually embroiled in supernatural intrigue or preparing for a huge battle royal, while Sally is typically just dealing with soap opera-like interpersonal problems or moping around the house. She gets some meatier story lines in the 2nd season, but most of the conflicts still boil down to Sally vs. Sally. Speaking of sexism: You'll notice a lot of disposable women pass through in this show. They exist long enough for the guys to fall in love, then are abruptly killed to make room for a new love interest. SPOILER ALERT: To name a few instances of this pattern: Rebecca, Cara, Celine, and Julia. There's also a slew of nameless women (especially prostitutes) who get drained by vampires. And then there's the lazy comedy. Occasionally there will be a genuinely funny situation (like when Aidan visits Josh's parents' house for dinner), but often the writers fall back on some variant of the following: "Look at us! A vampire, a werewolf, and a ghost watching Antique Road Show/eating lasagna/doing laundry!" To make this show more watchable, I'd like to propose a drinking game: -Drink when Aidan is brooding. -Drink when Aidan makes a motivational speech. -Drink when Josh is being awkward or judgmental. -Drink when Sally is whining or moping. -Drink when someone goes postal. -Drink when a woman dies. -Drink when a stupid joke is made. There, now you'll be hammered by the second episode and probably enjoy the whole thing a lot more.

Being a big fan of shows such as Charmed and currently Supernatural, I discovered this series (U.S. version) about a month ago. Right now I am getting caught up and am on Season 1. My initial impressions were that I didn't much like the characters or actors who play them. Aidan is the strongest most compelling character. Josh has grown on me a bit but not a whole lot. Sally I basically like and the actress does a good job with the role. I enjoy supernatural type movies and series that really focus on good fighting evil. However, I'm not sure that this series is necessarily about that.Though I realize Aidan, Josh and Sally are trying to live normal lives, and not give in to the monsters inside of them, still some of the stuff in particular, is a bit hard to take.Like Aidan and Rebecca having a bloody suck fest in the one episode, and in "Going Dutch," I almost decided not to watch anymore when I saw one scene, with a very pregnant woman with her swollen belly exposed, laid out on a dining room table, and then finding out she was pg with twins, and she was there to be sustenance for the vampires gathered around her. I thought that was extremely disturbing. Although they never touch her beyond Bishop drawing some blood from her wrist, in the ensuing fight, the table she is lying on gets completely flipped over. Also disturbing was Rebecca turning Bernie, the little boy into a vampire. I knew what was coming in that episode, that Aidan would have to put him down. I'm not sure if I will continue to watch the entire series but will continue for the present. I want to see if Season 2 will be any better.

Warning spoilers!I have watched a good amount of this show and have stopped because it's gotten TOO sad. I mean no matter what genre you have you MUST have some joy to it. Drama, Horror, Romance, Fantasy, etc. If it's all just sad sad sad what is the point? If I wanted to stare at sad people I would just watch the news!Additionally when all you have is depressing $#!t it gets boring. Like watching paint dry. Why do that? These people have horrible problem after horrible problem with NO resolution of said problems. It just gets worse. You know, you have to have light in order for dark to exist. Get it?Also the rules of the show make no sense. This just seems like another lazy American copy of a British show. ENOUGH! Avoid this show.
