Reviews

SnoopyStyle While investigating a young woman's death, FBI Agent Peter Connelly (Jason Isaacs) based in Jerusalem uncovers a secret society. His boss and former lover Lynn Monahan (Anne Heche) is unconvinced. Debbie Morgan (Lauren Ambrose) is a recovering addict staying with a group in an isolated religious compound out in the American desert. She discovers a boy named Josh who is held in isolation. She tries to break him out but it's not what she thinks it is. A red heifer without blemish is born in Norway and a young religious Jew is tasked to accompanying it to the Holy lands. The three separate stories converge around a plan thousands of years in the making.Tim Kring keeps coming up with convoluted conspiracy shows with religious overtones. I like them but it doesn't mean I'm a sucker for anything. There are some silliness going on in this show. All three stories are interest in their own way but also suffers from deficiencies. The cow is silly but I actually like the religious kid. I really like Lauren Ambrose but her story is unreal. As for the main story, it gets too complicated and too compressed. I started to lose interest in that section after a few episodes and the show ended weakly. This is an ambitious TV show that doesn't deliver all that it promises.
patlightfoot I watched the first episode and am looking forward to more. I am interested in archaeology and have a degree in it. BUT CONTINUITY? The red heifer? When the young man took it out for a walk it was definitely a bull calf. I mean to say folks, how could they miss that little bit of appendage? My thoughts are that it seems to be anti-Orthodox Jews is it? That won't be popular with some. But it is fiction and I rather liked its setting and also it's actors. I just hope it doesn't end up like Returned, going on and on and getting no where. I lost interest in that series. The genre is to my liking and actually it is supposed to take place under the Golden Dome Mosque there have been historical queries that possibly parts of the old Temple are still there. I am looking forward to more episodes.
amitkacker It is brilliantly written, directed and acted. The show is awesome. It has too many twists that keep you on the edge of your seat. Don't go by the overall ratings, i seriously don't know why they are so low. It is much more interesting than Breaking Bad or Homeland. I am a huge fan of Dan Brown books and this show borrows a lot from his style of writing and story. Jason Issacs is a good choice to play the lead and is aptly assisted by other casts. if there is any weakness, i would say that the producers could have given us more episodes in this season. The scenes of Jerusalem look authentic even though they have been shot in Croatia. Had the directors slowed the pace a bit to make the series for 12 episodes, the picture would have been clearer. But nonetheless, its brilliant. Miss it at your own peril.
fullheadofsteam In reading 20 reviews (prior to this one), more than half were positive and the overall IMDb rating was 7 stars out of 10. So WHY is the review that appears on the IMDb main page for this series a 2 stars rating??? But, getting beyond that obvious miscue, there is a blogging message board that has some negative (and to be honest, intellectually sloppy) comments that choose to focus primarily on the season finale. Now for fairness: the series does start out slow, but it is methodical and for those viewers who appreciate intelligent plot and character development over quick and slick carnival ride types of entertainment, then you're willing to keep tuning in and you will soon be hooked on the quality of this show. If you are easily confused and, even more, too easily frustrated by easy confusion, this is not the series for you. Otherwise, it is worth watching from start to finish, and the best way to watch the finale is to watch it back-to-back with the previous episode, as it was made as a two-parter, and if possible what is even better, watch the final 3 episodes back-to-back (O.K., take a brief potty and snack break!). Everything climaxes and comes to a comprehensible conclusion.
