aaronjamesmaximus This show is so awesome it makes you want to scam pigeons label everything in your room act ocd wear a hat that so no one will ever find out whats under it, eat buttered toast, gravy and jawbreakers. Basically in most episode the ed boys try to scam the kids to get their money to pay for jawbreakers and its awesome. Now they do vary up the episode so they're all different even if they all share similar plot points like scamming kids sometimes a particular kid, eddy being a greedy but lovable jerk, double d creates all the inventions and devices for scams, ed or one of the other eds (usually ed) messes everything up, if eds get jawbreakers or money they lose them, and the nasty kanker sisters kiss the eds to their horror. Still one of the best overall CN original show ever though(along with samurai jack) but of course Batman TAS takes the top rung best show on CN overall. There's also Space Ghost Coast to Coast, Metalocalypse and some other early early 2000's adult swim shows. Anyway Ed Edd n Eddy is awesome.
webberrules Ed, Edd, n Eddy is a hilarious animated television series from Cartoon Network, some of the original CN shows I do like.First off, the animation. The artstyle may not be the most visually appealing out there, it works for the animation slapstick with its caricatures. The animators also do a good job in making sure the animation does not go into either of the two extremes of an unapologetically crass visual style (South Park) and an overly saccharine one (The Powerpuff Girls). A decent balance between the two is good enough for me, and Ed, Edd n Eddy succeeds in that remark.Next, the characters. Ed, the endearingly dim-witted member of the three Eds, is without a doubt, the funniest character in the series. Edd, commonly referred to as Double D, is the brains of the trio, but he is also the kindest of the trio. Eddy, the greedy, impatient and loudmouthed member of the trio, is fun to watch as well. Jimmy, is a young boy who you cannot help but feel kind of sorry for him. Kevin, is the boy, with the stereotypical cool teenage rebellion. Rolf, the boy with an Eastern European accent, is meh. Sarah, Ed's sister, is a selfish, ungrateful brat of a girl, adds a bit of comedy to the series. The Kanker Sisters, are portrayed as the the Eds' worst nightmare, also adding comedy. Jonny 2x4, is portrayed as a nuisance to the other characters. Nazz, is the love interest of the series. Overall, the characters are very likable.Next, the voice acting. It consists of Matt Hill (Ed), Samuel Vincent (Edd), Tony Sampson (Eddy), David Paul Grove (Jonny 2x4), Kathleen Barr (Kevin and Marie Kanker), Peter Kelamis (Rolf), Erin Fitzgerald (Nazz (seasons 2, 4, 5, 6) and May Kanker), Janyse Jaud (Sarah and Lee Kanker), Keenan Christensen (Jonny 2x4 (some parts) and Jimmy), Tabitha St. Germain (Nazz (season 1)), and Jenn Forgie (Nazz (season 3)). The voice acting is great, enough said. And finally, the writing. The writing of the segments are simple short stories, but they are effective enough to make me feel entertained and give a me a good laugh.Overall, a fun and entertaining series that made me laugh out loud.
Piccolo_King Ed, Edd n Eddy -- Cartoon Network's longest-running original series -- delves into the colorful idiosyncrasies of childhood through an absurdist lens. The principal storyline revolves around a socially excluded threesome and their oft-failed attempts at purchasing scrumptious jawbreakers via swindling the other kids in the cul-de-sac.Our protagonists, Ed, Edd, and Eddy, are friends with each other for no other reason than the simple fact that nobody else wants to be friends with them. Ed is the village idiot of the group, a dim-witted daydreamer who's on numerous occasions, unfortunately, on the receiving end of his spoiled baby sister's (Sara) wrath. Edd is the intellectual one, the ingenious gadget designer guiding the technical workings of the trio's scams, and the only one who commands some semblance of respect from his peers. Eddy is the self-proclaimed leader who brainstorms these misbegotten plans in the first place. He's hated by pretty much everyone. Together with Kevin, Rolf, Nazz, Jimmy, the Kanker sisters and Plank, they form the complete set of characters on the show.Absurdist humor works best under situations that completely defy the conventional functioning of causal reasoning. This can be done so by deliberately centering the joke around an implausible, ridiculous, nonsensical, senseless event in such a manner that its final outcome evokes laughter out of bewilderment. The joke subverts our expectations as the punchline comes from a realm different from the one we presume the joke is occurring in (think of a Chuck Norris joke). That's precisely why I believe that the setting of the show is a stroke of genius by Danny Antonucci. The cul-de-sac, governed by its own forces and rules, is a bizarre land for a plethora of reasons. Aside from the construction site, every location looks and feels the same to the extent that it'd be pretty easy to get lost in this secluded suburbia of spatial anomalies. In fact, without the sporadic trumpet beats keeping the viewer company it would feel like a rather lonely place. For instance, even though their presence is acknowledged, why are the adult characters never visible on-screen? How does everything run like clockwork without their supervision? Why are the characters the only kids living in the area? Does Plank actually come to life every now and then? But of course, to ponder over such questions would be to miss the point of this brilliant show. The illogical surroundings are purposely designed the way they are so as to equip the characters with their very own peculiarities. Ed's eccentric utterances and gravy puns, the dynamic between Johnny and Plank, Rolf's anecdotes about his former shepherd life, Kevin's obsession with his jock image -- all this wouldn't be as laugh-out-loud funny if not accentuated by the iconic setting. It only makes sense to create an environment that could harbor such uniqueness; one that's as surreal as its inhabitants' imaginations.Above all else, the show is about the carefree aimlessness of childhood. It's a glorious period, really. Still sheltered from vice, we can live in our very own dream worlds where time is stagnant (or at least feels so). Ed, Edd n Eddy makes me want to revisit those days of heaven and wish they had never ended.
evan55145 This show is truly an underrated masterpiece. It's hilarious, lovable, and some of the best writing in Television. Why? Well, where to begin...The show is about three kids named Ed, Edd, and Eddy and their shenanigans. Most episodes revolve around Ed Edd and Eddy coming up with scams to make money to buy jawbreakers. With a simple concept, you expect the show to be predictable, right? Wrong. This show takes twists and turns and never leave you knowing what's going to happen next. The art design is great and similar to Ren and Stimpy, but the show's nowhere near as surreal. (Though they do have plenty of surreal humor). The characters are all very memorable in different ways and they all have very different personalities. The writing is really clever, especially for a simple kid's show. But I think my favorite part about the show is how everything is done in Modesty. No joke goes on too long. No gag is overused and everything is subtle. I absolutely love it.Final Thought. This is the most underrated show of all time, and I can't believe it's not brought up as much as it should be. And it's definitely the greatest Cartoon Network show ever.
