Reviews

zsofikam Ever since I was little, I have been a fan of Oswald. I found it and still to this day find it to be cute, simple, and charming. There's so much to love about this show but I'll name some things. The animation, like the animation for Max & Ruby and Maisy, has a storybook-like quality to it, as well as appearing almost felted like the animation in Little Bill, both qualities that I find very appealing. Each unique character, including Oswald (an octopus), his dog Weenie (a hotdog on a leash), and friends that include Henry (a penguin) and Daisy (a flower); as well as Johnny (a snowman ice cream vendor) and the butterfly (and mother of a caterpillar) who runs the diner are a very positive happy bunch. What else is there to say? As mentioned, Oswald is so cute and sweet, as are his other friends. Two other noteworthy things: the lessons and the relaxation factor. To this day, I sometimes find myself dozing off to this show. It's a very calm show, a nice break from kid's shows that are overstimulating to an adult. The messages are very positive and well presented without feeling forced and are perfect for toddlers (not giving up, acceptance, forgiveness, etc). The stories are easy to follow and capture a young child's imagination.
gureisu When Oswald first came out on Nick Jr., I was extremely curious about it. I watched it and it's a change of pace. It's not like Little Bill, that's modern and somewhat realistic. And it isn't like Franklin, where the lead character is so annoying, but that's how 4 and 5y.olds act. The world in which Oswald and all his friends live is simpler. It's unrealistic but I think I rather prefer it.Aside from Fred Savage as Oswald, who sings cute songs every episode, there's also David Lander and Richard Kind. You know, Squiggy (Laverne & Shirley) and Paul Lassiter (Spin City). David Lander is the dysfunctional penguin named Henry, who has to do everything the hard way and has a love for fish-related products. Richard Kind is Pongo, a somewhat queer dragon who's super shy and whose large size has made him awkward and lack confidence. There's also Daisy, an athletic daisy who rollerblades around and is just plain nice. We can't forget Weenie either; super cute doggie who looks like a hotdog.Oswald is a change of pace from all the rest of the shows on Nick Jr.. And it's definitely welcomed. I tire of seeing Joe from Blue's Clues, I tire of seeing his face every fifteen seconds on Nick Jr., plugging away Blue's Clues. Lord knows everyone prefers Steve. Regardless, if you're a fan of classic TV shows, like Laverne & Shirley, Wonder Years and Mad About You (I guess classic), you should try Oswald. It's cute, it's underrated, and sometimes you'll hear Squiggy sing. hehe Fun for people of all ages, believe it or not.
catwoman123 While at first glance one might say "the writers of this show must be on some serious drugs!", upon watching it you will see that it is a charming, imaginative, and very creative show. My 3 1/2 year old daughter just loves it. She could watch it for hours. I must admit, there is something mesmerizing about it. Oswald is a hit! (I'm just not sure quite why)
intheveldt This show is fantastically relaxing and sweet and will leave you feeling warm inside. The simple plot, full of small details that reveal complexity, and pleasant music enhance the viewing experience. Fred Savage's voice is perfect for the role.I highly recommend it.
