Sealab 2021

7.8 | TV-14 | en | Animation

The year is 2021. Deep below the ocean's surface, looms a vast, magnificently high-tech compound: Sealab. A multi-national scientific station with an annual budget in the trillions, manned by a motley collection of malcontents and screw-ups who were unfit for work in the private sector. They really don't get any research done, but instead spend their time bickering among themselves or just plain goofing off. The crew have manipulated their luckless leader, Captain Murphy, into submission, and are content to ride the government clock, raking in fat, hazardous-duty paychecks.

crazyrabbits Sealab 2021 is one of those shows that just grows on you. With it's wacky characters, bizarre, off-the-wall humor and recurring story lines, you can't help but fall in love with this show. What's it about, you ask? Well, it's basically about a group of marine scientists who live in an underwater aquatic research facility who get into all kinds of wacky adventures. Whether it be Captian Murphy becoming addicted to spider venom while trapped under a vending machine, the crew taken hostage by strange alternate versions of themselves, or the whole being stuck in a closet bickering with one another, you know there's going to be something crazy on every week. The voice acting is excellent as well, and I can't count how many times I've laughed at some of the deadpan deliveries the voice actors make.Bottom Line: Pick up the DVD set as soon as you can.
ron_72180 The first Sealab 2021 episode I saw was titled 'Predator.' I saw it on its first run in September of 2001. The episode cracked me up. Cartoon Network finally stepped over a line or two in a great way. Sealab 2021 is fresh comedy that TV has needed. I am happy that more people are starting to see it now. From the ridiculous, yet lovable Capt. Murphy to the sadistic Sparks this show really keeps you entertained. Cartoon Network has been changing its time slot lately so be on the look out for it. Apparently it has been renewed for 13 more episodes. Unfortunately they havent been showing new episodes in the past month or so. Check this show out.
bobbyknightmare This show has turned me into an instant "Sea Monkey". It's hilarious, I mean laugh out loud funny, with the added kitsch factor of Erik "Mailbox Head" Estrada portraying a marine biologist. If you're looking for me Sunday nights at 11:45, then this is where you'll find me.Yo, Cartoon Network, think that maybe you can stop playing one of the dozens of annoying, lame installments of "The Land Before Time" one weekend to run all of these episodes back-to-back?
kicking222 "SeaLab 2021" is absolutely hilarious. It's easily the most screwed up show I've ever seen, and I'm completely addicted. Although they've only made 10 or so episodes, even watching repeats is better than almost anything on television. Every character, from Hesh screaming about sex to Marco (voiced by Erik Estrada, of all people!) showing off his muscles, is funny and unique. Best of all: the show has no plot whatsoever. Each episode is pure jokes- plot is just background. If you don't believe me, see the episode where the entire crew is talking about becoming robots as the SeaLab explodes. My favorite shows of all-time used to be "Simpsons" and "Clerks: The Animated Series," but now "SeaLab 2021" joins that elite group. I hope this show never stops production- hell, production must be cheap, since they use animation from the original, early '70s show. I'm a diehard fan, and I think everyone else on earth should be.
