shaundowning13666 Great show but once again finished without closure. Plots left glaringly open. Enemies left undefeated. New possible enemies hinted at.I haven't always agreed with the choices the producers made. But the show was good.
bluesquirrel2004 I finally found the time to watch this show, being a lover of the original movie, series and SG:Universe. What I want explained is how this show was renewed for another 4 seasons??The story lines throughout the series are repetitive. The progress of each episode is predictable, that being: --Opening pleasantries, followed by --Inbound crisis, followed by--Mad scramble to fix the problem, followed by --The all is fine endingAnd there is nothing worse than the "Just In Time" type story line- --A new technology is discovered Just In Time to fix the current crisis --A new facility is found in Atlantis Just In Time to fix the current crisis--The scientists are able to reprogram the Atlantis computers to evade the current threat Just In time --The enemies reconsider their attack/switch sides/take on human morals Just In Time to evade annihilation --The non-operational defense systems are fixed Just In Timefor the attack. --etc etcThe best performances came from the support cast.I can't believe I wasted 30 hours watching the first two seasons hoping it would improve.
Sjalka Rjadottir Atlantis is kind of the "Star Trek - Deep Space 9". While SG-1 is not exactly nomadic - the point of the show is the traveling. Atlantis focuses on the settlement. It starts with what feels like the B-list actors from SG-1, but you get to like some of them. - but in many respects it keeps feeling like a cheap copy. You have the individualist squad leader ( Sheppard ) who is your regular Han Solo, you have your brainy guy who hides his insecurities with arrogance, you have your exotic guy, who is the "good and pure heart and soul of the team" and you have your tough thug that does not use many words but is meant to be surprisingly wise and deep or so.What i disliked the most is the double standard displayed in this show. Humans commit some horrible crimes - and re-act to other cultures in the show with so much inappropriate behaviour that i started rooting for the enemy. ( a sure sign that there is something wrong with the character design and story writing ) Our heroes display ignorance, intolerance and violence on a much greater level than even any other species they encounter. The show displays that it is no problem to kill thousands to save a friend, even if that friend got into the situation by their own stupid decision. It is also strange how the team of protagonists actually got together. While it felt OK for Teal'c to join SG-1, it feels forced to see Talya join Atlantis in such a role - and much worse Ronon.however - i am reviewing it from a more adult point of view than the show is made for. i daresay, without the baggage to overthink many of those things - the show is simple and enjoyable.
dinalt10 ************May contain spoilers*************** Just been catching up with the series on Netflix, and can only say that it's another show cancelled way too early. Was it perfect ? No. Was it enjoyable ? Yes.Unfortunately, Sci-fi on TV seems to often be the first casualty in cuts. While 'reality' shows and cheap soap operas carry on indefinitely. And this shows here quite clearly. An ending that seemed to be rushed - and left many stories left to be explored - primarily, did they ever get Atlantis back to the Pegasus Galaxy.A show that could easily have had at least another 2 seasons - but like many shows, seems set to languish.Shame.
