Once upon the 1970s, Dan Stark and his partner, Frank Savage, were big-shot Dallas detectives. So big, in fact, that they were lauded as American heroes after saving the Governor's son. Thirty years later, Dan Stark is a washed-up detective who spends most of his time drunk or re-hashing his glory days. Dan's new partner, Jack Bailey, is an ambitious, by-the-book and overall good detective, but is sometimes a bit too snarky for his own good. His habit of undermining himself has earned him a dead-end position in the department, and he is stuck solving annoying petty theft cases that nobody else wants. Worse, he's been given the thankless task of babysitting Dan, the drunk pariah who can never keep partners for long.

Reviews

prreith-54-651714 Still find myself watching occasionally three plus years later. Many people probably say "what if", but as time goes on and as much as I hate to admit, a single season seems fitting. It started out strong but fizzled out by the end, taking on a bit of a bad movie sequel vibe, much like a Lethal Weapon 4. A must see regardless, don't take it too seriously, sit back, and have a good time. Some episodes are a little slow, but there are some gems, episodes 2-4 are excellent, number three is epic, I'll never look at Bradley Whitford the same after that one. I still chuckle at some of Whitford's character's vocabulary, foreign static = forensic, commando = commandeer
Derek Birch I will start by saying that I hate police drams like CSI. I hate any police drama that tries to be serious. That being said, I have not liked any police dramas since the early 1980s, until The Good Guys. This show has everything: car chases, explosions, people leaping through the air shooting at moving objects. What more could you want? As for plausibility, the producers here never let mere physics get in the way of an otherwise good script. I love it. I want more. This show brings back the excitement of the 70's cop/detective shows like Starsky and Hutch, or the Rockford files, and even borrows elements from them; Dan Lives in a trailer and drives a Firebird. There is even intense sexual tension between Jack and his Ex girlfriend. All this makes The Good Guys, truly fun and nostalgic. A must see.I really hope they film another season.
jimmihendrixfan I really enjoyed the show I couldn't wait for it to come on. I watched every episode that came on. There were parts that sucked like how it kept going back and fourth from past to present but easy to put up with because the show was just so awesome. Now the show stops coming on but they put up a whole bunch of crap that comes on gets less ratings but they keep it anyways. Is there something wrong with Fox? I would love for this show to come back on and many others that Fox has cut off for more crap that comes on. I don't see how Fox gets all it's ratings when they kick the good stuff off air with out even saying anything. They tell you when new shows are coming on but not when there going to knock a show off. There is only so many good station out there and Fox is making them self's look bad. Fox was good back in the day but not anymore.
gcronau I'll keep this short. I really liked Bradley Whitford in the West Wing and Studio 60, so I went into this show with reasonable expectations of liking it.But then I started watching the pilot episode and I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Whitford's character made me cringe every time he started talking. (His character reminded me of a live action Foghorn Leghorn.) I was wincing at almost every scene. After 20 minutes I had to turn it off. I found none of it funny, and most of it just plain embarrassing. This show appears to be a lot like _Psych_, which I don't care for either. So I guess if you like Psych, you can probably stomach this show too.
