barflairer When anyone asks me what's my favourite tv show, my response is always Newsroom. There's something about Aaron Sorkin that has the ability to write some the most engaging story lines and when combined with an amazing cast esp Jeff Daniels, it just made this one of the best pieces of television. It is an absolute shame this show only lasted 3 seasons. Absolutely devastated. PS - Can't believe Jeff Daniels was the other guy in Dumb and Dumber. Brilliant actor.
dominikroth Each and every actor absolutely kills it in this show. From the first second on, the characters are brought to life perfectly. Nowhere else have I ever seen such great chemistry between actors on TV. This is paired by intellectually provoking, intense dialogues, offered at an amazing velocity. There is not a single moment of boredom here. Point after point after point being made... Even the very few cheesy scenes are a less cheesy compared to other TV shows. With a compelling mix between mind challenges and entertainment, this show hits it right on the spot. It makes you think without being lecturing.Emily Mortimer is totally hot - not least because of the intelligence and dedication she incorporates so well into her role. And the Slumdog millionaire as the young tech-savvy journalist kid delivers a top notch performance from the first scene on... I could go on like this for every actor/character there is...With only a tiny number of exceptions, this high level TV making is kept all the way until the end of the 3rd season. Without a doubt one of the best satires there is!!!
Mike C I wanted to like this show, I really did. But I noticed that with each episode, it became more and more clear that Aaron Sorkin thinks his audience is either extremely liberal or extremely naive. The show is supposed to be about a news program trying to reinvent itself by focusing on "truth" as opposed to "ratings." Then it proceeds to bash Republicans and the Tea Party throughout entire first season.I'm neither a Democrat nor Republican. But while watching the show, I get a sense that Aaron Sorkin is engaging in a very sad attempt to brainwash me, which kinda kills it...-- UPDATE --I decided to watch Season 2 and it seemed to be far better, until it was revealed that the entire Season 2 was merely a sad attempt by Aaron Sorkin to blame Benghazi on a fictional event he created as opposed to Hillary Clinton's failures as SOS.*sigh*
ElessarAndurilS The Newsroom has its flaws, but it is one of the best shows I've seen showing truth about modern society. The personal stories are a nice, feel good thread to the story lines. The key is the foundation upon which it is built; restoring integrity to the news! With the internet and smartphones the integrity of our news in this country has fallen to an all time low. This show hits hard at the core values that should be the basis of what we consider news and a source of truth. Unfortunately we no longer have a source of truth in the news, just opinion and a popularity contest.
