neckstine-45101 Watched 10 minutes of the pilot and wasn't into it. Every character seemed like Joey from friends.
sfinancing ...and glad I did.A fast paced and amusing thrill ride that just doesn't get old. Smartly written superhero spoof from the turn of the century. Acting with just the right combo of seriousness and camp. Well casted.Looking forward to Amazon's take in 2017, hope they can manage the right balance.Well worth the time to watch the series(and you can marathon it in an afternoon).
larry.launders The Tick has gone from comic book to animated series to live action, each able to do things the other medium can't. Given that set of circumstances, the show was too short lived. I don't think it would have lasted a lot of years, but three or four could have been possible.*** SOME OF THIS COULD BE CONSIDERED SPOILERS!! *** There were apparently copyright issues in introducing some of the same supporting cast, hence Deflator Mouser became BatManuel, and American Maid became Captain Liberty, but the characterizations and stories involving all of them were very well done.Guest stars included Christopher Lloyd (in the pilot episode as Arthur's boss Mr. Fishladder), Armin Schimerman as The Terror, Sam MacMurry as The Immortal, Ron Perlman as Fiery Blaze and Patrick Breen as his sidekick Friendly Fire, Dave Foley as a super-hero intervention counselor, Kurt Fuller as Destroyo, and Jonathan Penner as The Champion. So many of these episodes dealt at least as much with real world situations placed into the scenarios of the superhero's realm, and given The Tick's very odd outlook, resulted in extremely humorous and laugh-out-loud episodes. You might not like it as much as the book or the cartoon, but take the opportunity to see it, you will laugh!
wolf_rahm I saw this show a couple of nights ago, and I think its excellent! Sadly, the channel it was on is showing it randomly and very late at night. I love the concept of the series, and "The Tick" reminds me so very much of my childhood hero, _!!CAPTAIN CAPSLOCK!!_ Loud, annoying and silly, but with good intention! The other characters are also great! Arthur with his butterfly wings.. crazy stuff, hilarious. I have read all the comments to this show, and I have found that most of the negative or neutral comments are those that were posted in 2001 by hardcore fans of the comics, while all the positive comments, very positive comments, are posted later. Could the canceling of this show be a result of disappointed fans, who expected the live version to be just like the comics? Sooo narrow minded. Anyway, here's yet another surprised viewer, adding to the positive response to this brilliant show.
