marshallk28 an atomic-powered gothically sexy female android from the planet qar-to arrives on earth systematically traveling through five cities blasting the hell out of the evil mor-taxan aliens who are hiding in radiated host human bodies with atomic bullets and, each time demanding to know where is the advocacy the evil triad alien leaders. the human team led by dr. blackwood are baffled by the sudden mass-extermination of the evil aliens just as well as the evil advocacy alien leaders.one of the human team members col.ironhorse is kidnapped by the sexy hispanic-Mexican female android she mind-rapes him of his knowledge and befriends him when she finds that he and his motives are a shared common goal to kill the evil parasitic alien leaders and their kind before they spread.dr. blackwood and, his crew along with the colonel are happy as hell to have katara helping them.the advocacy organizes an ambush to kill katara and the blackwood team.and blackwood and his crew are mortally wounded and katara is shot by a circuit disabler rifle by grunt aliens she heals herself as well as the blackwood crew and, said she will return with reinforcements
edimusprime Ugh what can I say here. I liked this show I really did. Season 1 was pretty good. And overall it was a great concept. Then came season 2.I don't mind the idea that the aliens turned the tables and now our hero's had to fight an uphill battle that much. In all honesty it gave the series a more gritty tone it had lacked. I also don't mind the deaths of several of the characters from season 1 it gave the show an air of jeopardy. It upped the stakes. But really after the season change the show just plain stunk. It was depressingly slow, and boring. Now onto my main beef here. The DVD set of season 1. What a hunk of crap. Who was in charge of this transfer? It looks like they transfered directly from VHS (actually I have some episodes on VHS that are clearer than these DVD's are) with no clean up what so ever. This is the worst set I have ever purchased by far. The images are not clean, but distorted and barely watchable. NOt to mention their actually edited episodes. Cause the first episode has not even been restored to it's original airing cut that included Dr. Blackthorn as a child watching the war machines fall.Avoid this DVD set at all costs. That is not a warning I've ever issued EVER!
williamlester I was stationed in Europe when this series was broadcast in the US. We did not get it on the Armed Forces TV Network.I had trepidation about the "quality" of this series when a 6 Disc set for the first season was around $15.The first shows were so terrible I howled with laughter. The hair, the dialogue, the music and the special effects were so laughable even for TV in the 80's. The original Star Trek series had better effects and dialogue than this series.I have only seen 1 of the cast on other TV or Cinemas, and the 'Guest Stars' were definitely unknowns. The title should have been 'Guest Test Subject'. dialogue such as: "After we evacuate this facility will look like Chernobyl"..."looks like a freaking flying-saucer"..."Where is that thing from? From somewhere very far away"..."we can see an alien inside, how about that"...comments from an Army Lt. Col about an Air Force (full) Colonel..."It looks like we are going to have to work with this Air Force clown". The aliens who have taken over human bodies speak in their native tongue, English is subtitled...however at the alien 'high command' - called the Advocacy - the Advocates in their natural form talk to each other in English rather than their own natural language. If the producers subtitled one group why not the other? As the series came along (I can't believe I watched the WHOLE THING!) the dialogue and effects started to get better. But, still unbelievable. I do have to hand it for the 'gore' factor was much much more than what I remember what was allowed on TV. This is a very bloody and gory show. The bloody violence was extreme. Especially the human 'host' body after the alien takeover would melt over time. There was some sexual situations that were very sensual, side body nudity, dance club sexy dancers, and provocative situations. Such nudity for that era would rate an 'R' rating in the movies. I can not believe that the censors would allow it to be aired. As the show evolved so did the Alien dialogue - toward the end it really sounded like a language rather than a bunch of made up words.Well, that about sums it up, I can't fault the producers for using, what today is, 'bad' science, but, one must remember the show is set in the 80's, you know curly blown hair you know the ultimate holding gel that a hurricane could not muster and womens dresses with shoulder pads out, way out! Seeing this now and knowing one also 'dressed' in fashion make me want scream - "I, didn't look like that, did I?" Oh, well, to give the show credit it does get better as the season progressed. I can't believe it went on for a second season, wow!
shstrang98 Since our society seldom sees any kind of sci-fi as "cool" I'm really amazed that this ever came out on DVD.Yes the picture quality is lacking and I do wish the animated alien had grabbing the Earth segment was intact but overall I'm very pleased.AS far as sound quality is concerned I was very pleased. The local TV station that played this series back in '88 wasn't stereo. For the first time I am able to hear the audio of the show like people in big markets (with stereo TV stations) were able to. Best of all, none of the usual audio artifacts (that result from overly high bit rate reduction; sounds like a low bit mp3) are present. I heard tape hiss, some splices and audio dropouts all of which aren't uncommon with analog audio production.I would like to know the origin of the transfer material. Was the transfer done from original edited 35mm prints or from 1" videotape broadcast masters. If the editing and final production was mastered to tape, I bet that fully edited 35mm prints probably never existed. If more seasons come you can be damned sure I'll buy them.
