ultrasween Bad audio dubbing, sub-par CGI, camp acting and Bruce Campbell. All these factors make this movie a very enjoyable ride not to be taken at all seriously. Bruce Campbell and Renée O'Connor (Xena: Warrior Princess) play astronauts who return from a space mission to find that giant termites have invaded earth and enslaved humanity. The movie provides many great moments like finger amputation to improve work morale as well as Campbell's shining chin as he delivers one-liners with his patented bravado: "Just call me a... great healer." A must for Campbell fans. S
TheLittleSongbird I watched Alien Apocalypse with low expectations, and while not a good movie at all it was better than I thought it would be. It does have a lot of problems, such as the cheap special effects, ridiculously fake beards, an overbearing soundtrack, dialogue that is corny at best and cringe-worthy at worst, clichéd characters, overly cartoony violence(though the shooting at the beginning was actually quite good), a silly story that felt rushed and was lacking in suspense or surprises and mostly awful acting. However, there is some well-conceived gore, some good shots which make the killing of the aliens much more satisfying, some nice scenery and the amiable acting of Renee O'Connor and Bruce Campbell, who always tries hard no matter how bad the script or overall movie is. All in all, not a must-avoid movie, but hardly a must-watch either. 4/10 Bethany Cox
Vomitron_G Crazy and goofy sci-fi/horror/comedy set in a near future on an earth over-run by human-sized insect-aliens in search for... wood! This movie gains quite some points because of Bruce Campbell, who is at his campy best in this one, playing (in a way similar to his Ash character from "Army Of Darkness") an astronaut/doctor turning into the unexpected hero on a quest to save the earth. All of the supporting cast seem to be deliberately trying to act as bad as possible AND wearing some of the worst long hair wigs in movie history. But the movie itself is pretty fun to watch, never tedious. And very important: It succeeds in what it sets out to do, and its ambitions don't really go beyond anything else than putting a dumb smile on your face. The special effects in general are much better than they ought to be in this type of flick. The only advice I can give: Know beforehand what you're about to watch, then you don't have to complain afterwards.
lampbizkat Dear oh dear..that's the first thing that comes to mind when I think about Alien Apocalypse. Words just allude me when I try to come up with an accurate description of how terrible this movie is.Yes I do realize that it's a B movie..and it was made for TV on a budget fronted by a minimum wage McDonalds worker but honestly this is the best script they could come up with?! The special effects are just to say the least are..THE WORST SPECIAL EFFECTS EVER USED IN A MOVIE period. I challenge you to find a movie with worse special effects than this piece of crap. This movies' special effects make Shark Attack III: Megaladon look like a 200 million dollar industrial light and magic picture. I'm not even joking..when I was a freshman in High school we made some scenes with 3d Action Max and my reels were on par or better than the special effects of this film. Had they of put some paper machete onto a tall guy and had him growl it would probably have been more believable and scary than the aliens in this movie. It's not even entertaining. A good B movie is always a terrible movie..but in a good way. Yes this movie does have it's fair amount of funny moments but most of the time it's just painful to watch. Also what the heck is the deal with this plot?!! So apparently some termites got a hold of some steroids and grew bigger than humans and now they have enslaved humans and want them to log for them..so they can..eat the wood??? What?? Apparently you can kill these termites with a wooden spoon to..and these termites managed to take over our planet? These aliens are snooty little buggers to. You ask them what planet they're from and the "snarl" at you. How rude! I know that I'm being a bit harsh but seriously!!! I can take a dump with my video recorder and have a more sound and interesting plot than this movie. I weep for the future of films if crap like this keeps getting made.
