Python Hyena Big Momma's House 2 (2006): Dir: John Whitesell / Cast: Martin Lawrence, Nia Long, Emily Proctor, Zachary Levi, Mark Moses: One humongous size dung of a film that sequels another major size piece of crap. Martin Lawrence dons the wig and fat suit once again to nanny three children while investigating their father. Like the pitiful The Pacifier the previous year he will assist the children in various activities while informing their parents of their faults and solve the case. Formula plot exists for nothing more than to conjure up another pile of crap. Director John Whitesell does his best but star Lawrence never looks convincing in his makeup. When Dustin Hoffman was cast in Tootsie the makeup was so convincing that all that was needed was his obvious talent to carry it through. No such luck here. Lawrence can be funny when the material is right but here he strikes out twice in an over the top performance that looks like a desperate attempt for attention. Nia Long plays his wife who at first figures him as a cheating husband but it is obvious that the screenwriter had little for her to do. Emily Proctor and Zachary Levi also appear although nothing anybody does helps this film along. Some Like It Hot and Tootsie are two comedies about dressing up in drag that work but Big Momma's House and its dreadful sequel are just one big mess that should be vanquished up Big Momma's anal track. Score: 1 / 10
Dislike CR Nice movie! Big Momma's House 2 is a 2006 American crime comedy film and the sequel to Big Momma's House. The film was directed by John Whitesell, based on the characters created by Darryl Quarles from the original film, and starring Martin Lawrence reprising his role as FBI agent Malcolm Turner. The film was released theatrically on January 27, 2006 and was critically panned as critics felt that a sequel was unnecessary. Unlike the original, the film is more family friendly compared to the original film's more mature target demographic. The film was not well received by film critics, scoring 6% at Rotten Tomatoes. Malcolm Turner (Martin Lawrence) has been assigned a desk job in public relations as an FBI agent, since he wants to live with his new wife, Sherry Pierce (Nia Long), during her delivery for the couple's new baby boy. Meanwhile, an incident occurs in Orange County, California, where Malcolm's old friend, Doug Hudson (Kirk B.R. Woller), has been killed while he was going undercover. FBI agent Kevin Keneally (Zachary Levi) is doing surveillance on a former U.S. Army military intelligence specialist named Tom Fuller (Mark Moses), who has since retired and is working for a private corporation called National Agenda Software. The FBI has soon discovered that Tom is developing a computer worm which will create backdoors into the databases of all the branches of the U.S. government. Affected by his friend's death, Malcolm asks FBI chief, Crawford (Dan Lauria), to put him on the case, but Crawford refuses and tells him to stay away for safety analysis. By eavesdropping via the webcam, Malcolm finds out that the FBI is sending one of the agents to infiltrate Fuller's house as a nanny. Giving Sherry the pretext of attending a safety conference in Phoenix, Arizona, Malcolm leaves for Orange County and takes the "Big Momma" costume with him.
janeymiller01 great film, but why did they spoil it at the end with a baby that looked nothing like the couple!! If I didn't know better, it was a completely different race and certainly did not retain the beautiful features of Martin Lawrence and Nia Long. You would have thought that even film directors would get it right when it comes to matching families and siblings in films and TV. Bad decision in this film... so unrealistic and stupid!! The upside is that it made me laugh so much!! Overall, a fabulous film, but there were some silly errors.... Flaming hell, reviews are required to be 10 lines long... therefore, I am typing to my heart's content.... my opinion is to watch this film, but watch the first one if you haven't seen it, because it will help the setting... Have I written my 10 lines yet?
departed07 2000's Big Momma's House was a surprise hit in the summer where I couldn't stop laughing once I bought the film on DVD. But one thing I hate about most comedy films is when they try to bring on the sequels; many of which take a long time to develop where after a while most of the fans who cheered for these characters start to lose their touch and move on to better movies. The premise of Big Momma's House 2 involves Martin Lawrence reprising his role as Malcolm. He has already got the girl (Nia Long) from the first movie where her son Trent is accepting him as it is while at the same time embarrassed that Malcolm is dressed up in silly mascots in high school to promote safety. But now the undercover agent if fired from his job where he overhears a conversation involving a computer geek on the verge of being killed unless he does something about it. Malcolm dons the Big Momma suit and goes in as a nanny. To be honest with you, the film was very hard for me to keep up. Not once did I laugh unlike the first movie where it just tried to hard to be like the original.
