This is a delightful little movie in the science fiction genre. Not that well known but still a cult hit for those that matter. Chopping Mall, as you righty guessed takes place entirely inside a mall. A group of horny teenagers romp in a mall and get left inside after shut down. The mall has recently installed high tech cameras and giant robots to safeguard the mall (!!!) and on the night the kids are locked in there happens a thunder strike that takes out all the computer boards. The Robots come alive, kill their caretakers and start hunting the mall. This is a fun flick that undeservedly got forgotten on release. Great performances from the young cast must be mentioned.

sure it's not Oscar dramatic quality, but to be honest this is way more fun to watch. the score is great, the robots are killer ! and it has 80's nostalgia all over it. it's just fun to see what malls looked like the in the 80's, so this is almost like a historical document showing us what malls looked like then. helps me relive my youth. it's just a fun movie.

This 1986 sci-fi/horror film stars Kelli Maroney, Tony O'Dell, Russell Todd, Karrie Emerson, Barbara Crampton, Nick Segal, John Terlesky and Suzee Slater. This features a group of friends, Alison (Maroney), Ferdy (O'Dell), Rick (Todd), Linda (Emerson), Suzie (Crampton), Greg (Segal), Mike (Terlesky) and Leslie (Slater) who decide to spend the night in a shopping mall after hours. Soon, they become terrorized by 3 security robots that become deadly after lightning strikes the computer system. Dick Miller, Mary Woronov and Paul Bartel also make appearances. This is a pretty good 80's flick that combines aspects of "The Terminator" and "Dawn of the Dead." I recommend this.

In order to beef up security at a local shopping mall, three robots are introduced with capabilities to render burglars unconscious when necessary. Yet even though the manufacturers insist that they are incapable of causing serious harm they have still given them enormous strength and laser beams which can cut through reinforced steel. What could possibly go wrong? Well, sure enough, a lightning storm hits at the same time several young couples decide to have a party inside the mall after closing time. Needless to say, these couples soon have a lot more on their hands than just their companions. Now rather than reveal any more of this movie I will just say that, while it was generally entertaining, it still had a grade-B feel and the decision to combine certain amounts of comedy and action together only tended to reinforce that opinion. So, although it wasn't necessarily a bad movie, it still didn't quite attain its overall potential and for that reason I have rated this film accordingly. Slightly below average.
