Raul Faust "Dance Flick" is in the category of those known "Something Movie". It's a spoof movie that ridicules some mainstream movies like "Step Up" and "Hairspray". Also it spoofs Britney Spears and T.I.I may admit that we have some funny jokes and scenes, but it isn't enough. There are some unfunny jokes as well, and it destroys the enjoyability of this. The cast is very known from the TV series "My wife and kids" and "Everybody Hates Chris" which is not a bad thing. If you look for some cheap comedy that will make you have a few (but good) laughs, give it a try. It is nothing compared to "Scary Movie" franchise, but try to do it's work.
Floated2 Dance Flick is a movie that really isn't funny or even remotely that great. It had some funny moments but not enough to actually be called funny. The acting was bad all in the film, mostly by the lead character Megan, and Thomas. His facial expressions were weird and he was over the top too much. But its a Wayans film, acting isn't always that great in their films. The plot is spoofed from Step Up 2: The Streets. About a girl Megan who wants to live her dream to become a dancer so she moves to another school. This happens when her mother passes away. Many spoofs in this film were unnecessary and just plain unfunny like the spoof of Ray Charles from "Ray", "Fame", and others. Spoofing Ray Charles was a surprise because "Ray" isn't a dance movie, and this movie is called Dance Flick. They also spoofed "Twilight" at the very ending. I didn't laugh at anything except a few chuckles. And like others have said, many of the funny scenes were in the trailers. One funny scene was towards the end with the final "you got served" dance scene with the fat guy dancing. Also credit to Shawn Wayans character and Affion Crockett (A-con), he was pretty funny. Though overall this movie was just not funny (except a few moments)
Argemaluco A dancer spins so fast that he perforates the floor from the runway where he dances.A ballet dancer rehearses at her home and she knocks the members of her family with the feet during her swift pirouettes. The dance teacher's surname is Cameltoé (with an accent on the "e" to make it sound French). And, as anachronistic as it sounds, we also have a pie in the face. That is the general level of the jokes you will find on this repulsive "movie" called Dance Flick. And we also have in here the obligatory parodies of current events, celebrities and mostly musical movies, even though some of the parodied ones have nothing to do with the musical genre, such as Twilight. However, considering the inexistent quality from this sub-genre (Date Movie, Epic Movie, Meet the Spartans), it should not surprise me that co-screenwriters Keenen Ivory, Shawn, Marlon, Craig and Damien Dante Wayans (the last one was also the director) were desperate to generate any laughs.Needless to say that they did not achieve that. The thing which mostly surprised me from Dance Flick is that its producers invested money on the rights from songs such as Fame, Maniac and Superfreak.Sure, we do not hear the original versions in here, but their brief inclusion on such a cheap and improvised movie called my attention.Dance Flick is one of those movies which are so bad which provoked me nausea and made me to wanna puke.Do not waste your time and your money on such a piece of crap like this one.
kosmasp Really scary actually ... because it disguises itself as a comedy, although it actually isn't! But seriously though, this movie sucks in a really bad way. As another user wrote, the movie didn't "step up 2 the challenge" (Kudos to Kristine for that summary line). It actually didn't step up 2 anything. After watching this movie (and about every other spoof comedy out there), I was wondering, why it isn't possible to capture the essence, the jokes, the creativity of the Zucker comedies? They look they masterpieces compared to recent "comedies" (well, they are, but you get my point, hopefully). If one of the best jokes is "Came to pick up my son" (if you laugh at that, you might enjoy the movie, more than most people, although I giggled at that and didn't like it), you know you're in for something really bad. The spoof movies nowadays, are more like a Saturday Night Live show. Some sketches, but nothing really coherent. Not to mention the fact, that most people in here, either can't act or did a very good job convincing you, that they actually can't act! One other reason is, the Zucker guys always said, how much they loved the movies they spoofed. I don't get that feeling from those new movies. Most of the jokes just are mean and would work better without a "movie" surrounding them (I think they would work as videos on the internet, on special comedy sites, that have such videos). As you can see by the rating, not really a movie you should be watching out for. Maybe the dance movies aren't really good most of the times, but they still deserve a better comedy made out of them ...
