Carlos Idelone The "summary", refers to the film's weirdest line, at the climax of the film.It goes something like this, " Education used to be easy, but these days everyone has an opinion." ???? Was that supposed to be a joke? The film- makers seemed to concentrate on the looks of the film and the actors, more than the story. All the actors were "pretty", as was the scenery. I liked listening to the rich Irish accents. Unfortunately, the story seemed quite amateurish, as it contained bits and pieces from other movies, stuck together haphazardly. It jumbled "Carrie", "Who can Kill a Child", "Village of the Damned" and another recent Irish horror story,"The Daisy Chain", in which a little girl/elf burns her parents to death. The imagery was well done, but the plot was basically incoherent, with very little real story.
Nigel P 'Dark Touch' is very much open to suggestion. We are left with the impression of what is going on, but allowed to be certain of nothing.Young Naeve may well be abused by her parents, she may well have caused the conflagration that killed them. It is likely that she has some empathic understanding of other abused children, and it seems that they combine their unspecific telekinetic powers to gain a brutal kind of revenge.Naeve seems both terrified of and embracing of her powers. Her parents and those who try ham-fistedly to understand her exchange meaningful glances with one another, but nothing is really said and no true progress is made.'Dark Touch' is mostly filmed in stark, cold colours and visually contains many elements typical of horror films, of hauntings, and themes of possession. And yet this variant of (disturbing yet fantastic) themes is coupled with the (very real and abhorrent) subject of child abuse, which makes it difficult to categorise. Not that categorising a film is necessarily a desirable thing to do; often films that blur the line between subjects are very effective, but the approach often means that thematically, too many subjects are explored and none in satisfying detail for them to be truly effective.
Angel Metayer The tale of Niamh (in the move it sounds as though they are saying Neve) and the sexual molestation and child abuse she deals with is chilling. This movie grips you from the very beginning. The actress who plays the abused child is well remembered and captures your attention completely. To see the physical abuse manifest into a psychic ability of self-defense is astounding. As Niamh flees from the death of her parents and baby brother, into the arms of another family, you see her protectiveness take shape. Albeit in an extremely violent fashion. As she learns what it is, and how to control it, Niamh faces what will be the biggest challenge of her life. Herself I highly recommend watching this movie. Beware, however, the director does not play to those who are sensitive.
Adu Asz First of all, if someone is about to make a decent movie, there's a need to have a meaning or something to tell. Acting is absolutely utter bullsh*t, maybe because there's no tangible dialogues in this entire movie. What the hell is with the "tongue exercise?" First Niamh can barely speak and all of a sudden her tongue regenerates. How? The officer is not even sure where to begin with the investigation... who the f*ck is capable of this job? The lawnmower man, I surmise. Why does every kid have such a sinister and dark face and behaviour? What's the explanation? Seriously, whoever thinks it's a good movie, lies. Storytelling is below zero: nothing makes here any sense at all. Human emotions, reactions are far away from reality. No one is an interesting character, they are just manequins. Originality: wow, Stephen King's Carrie arrived!Summa summorum: sh*t wrapped up with more sh*t.
