JokerMichel Before watching it on tv , I didn't have high expectations, but I had nothing to do so I decided to watch it What was wrong with the movie ?(No spoilers)The actors weren't good , they didn't seem to be credible . The plot wasn't well developped, the script was awful , unrealistic , unfunny. More we went further in the movie , I was realizing that the movie is pointless so I stopped watching it before it ends
Prismark10 Zack Bradley (Dane Cook) is a box boy happy wit his lot at the SupperClub supermarket. Zack once went into business but it failed, he is now happy to be a slacker, popular with his fellow employees as he and his fellow box boys hook up in a cubby hole for a game of cards. On the other hand Vince Downey (Dax Shepard) the head cashier is regularly the winner of the Employee of the Month awards. When a new shapely employee arrives Amy (Jessica Simpson) with a reputation of dating only the Employee of the Month, Zack and Vince go all out to win the award!Dane and Dax go all out to make this movie work, Dane is likable enough as slacker Zack and Dax is oily and fake enough be a thorn on his side but he is made out to be almost a closet gay with his relationship with Jorge, you never buy for a moment that Vince would want to sleep Amy. In fact he is so darn uncomfortable around her he would had been better off dating the store manager who is heavily implied as being gay.Jessica Simpson looks good enough with her cleavage so you never notice her acting. The film is amusing enough if rather predictable, you know that once Zack goes all out for the award his relationship with his boys will become strained. There are some good side characters such as Jorge, Vince's wing man and the two squabbling brothers Glen Gary and Glen Ross.
msgreen-1 Saw this at a preview and wish I had turned down the free tickets. The jokes are terrible and in my opinion Jessica Simpson and Dane Cook have no business being in a movie. I think Dane Cook's comedy albums are okay but he is just awful as an "actor", and Jessica Simpson's lack of acting ability is already well known. Why is she still in movies? Oh right, she has a pretty face and huge bosom and is willing to wear teeny-tiny little outfits. Seriously though, if you're looking for anything that requires actual acting talent this isn't the movie for you. Andy Dick is pretty good in his small role but I still only cracked a couple smiles through the entire boring, pointless movie. Please Hollywood drop Jessica Simpson and Dane Cook off at the nearest dump, isn't their 15 minutes up yet?
badajoz-1 Generic, not terribly original, but harmless and gives a few good laughs where other concept movies (eg Skyfall) flounder. An old story of a played out, seeming loser, falling for a gorgeous girl, and, having to win her despite the evil machinations of an arrogant, successful rival - all worked out in the melange of a large supermarket. There are some sharp observations about such institutions, but does not waver into outright parody, some funny character interest,(but not all successful, especially the hero's slacker mates), some comic jokes at US corporate life and a romcom relationship that meanders to a successful end, despite Jessica Simpson only managing to match Jennifer Aniston's bland screen persona and performance standard. The acting mostly is okay, and the direction not showily competent. The plot line is the race for 'Employee of the Month' in the superstore between hero and villain, because it is reckoned that Jessica Simpson will hit the sack with the winner ( Hollywood misunderstanding of Ms Simpson's feminist sensibilities!), so the race becomes very competitive. Good harmless fun!
