teamcaryl Wow .... My head is still processing the utter mindlessness of the cretin who made this nonsense. I barely got through 20-minutes of it on Netflix before changing movies. What an utter mess. A ton of bad acting and sad directing, alongside horrible casting choices, characterization, script, and plot. Total crude and mindless humor at its dumbest. Completely insulting and shaming the classic series, which was a family-oriented show, and hugely entertaining. Bo and Luke were down-home good 'ole boys---not lust-driven, dimwitted playboys, always provoking brawls. Uncle Jessie was a God-fearing, rule-thumping fatherly patriarch, and Daisy was NOT a bimbo blonde, but an attractive, sexy brunette with real brains behind a pretty face. Roscoe and Enos were the comic relief, serving under the comical deviousness of Boss Hogg. Thank goodness I didn't waste my $ on a movie ticket, at its release. I'd have demanded a refund.
jessegehrig Loveless bargain film-making. Several cocaine fueled "meetings" took place over a miserable weekend for two hookers in order for the screenplay to be written. From there the cruelty continued, first a director was forced to compromise his artistic integrity, then actors were forced into similar situations of compromised morals, until finally we, the audience, were then forced to betray something good when we watched it. A legacy of shame, passed along from one victim to the next all so some horrible sociopath can collect revenue. Great job Human Race what with that whole letting-the-world-be-run-by-evil-men thing, I think it's working out just fine.
namashi_1 Based on the American television series of the same name, 'The Dukes of Hazzard' is, at best, a passable comedy that's funny in bits. 'The Dukes of Hazzard' Synopsis: Cousins Bo and Luke Duke, with a little help from their cousin Daisy and Uncle Jesse, egg on the authorities of Hazzard County, Boss Hogg and Sheriff Coltrane.'The Dukes of Hazzard' has a racy first-hour, but a dull second. The comedy as well as the stunts work in the first-hour, but everything comes down in the final hour. Even the climax, for that matter, is far from euphoric. The Screenplay is certainly funny in parts, but loses steam later-on. Jay Chandrasekhar's Direction is standard. Cinematography & Editing are fair.Performance-Wise: Johnny Knoxville & Seann William Scott are entertaining. Jessica Simpson looks gorgeous, but gets no scope. Burt Reynolds is pretty solid as the antagonist. On the whole, 'The Dukes of Hazzard' is passable.
Mr-Fusion For all of the pans and low ratings, "The Dukes of Hazzard" turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Granted, if I were a "Dukes" purist (I'm not), then I'd be pretty miffed at the changes that were made for this movie. And it's not without its problems. For one, the characters of Boss Hogg and Roscoe P. Coltrane are all wrong. Second, the occasional comments on the General Lee in modern society get old. But they did pretty well on the casting front; two likable Duke boys, David Koechner's a good Cooter, and Willie Nelson makes for a novel Uncle Jessie. Plus, there's a rock-solid soundtrack for the car chases. The Broken Lizard cameos were pretty cool. And thankfully, they didn't feel the need to change or update the General (thank god for that). There are smarter ways to spend your time, but that's just it: the TV show wasn't all that smart to begin with ... but it was fun. And I think the filmmakers got that. And speaking for myself, I'm here for the car. Always have been. And there's no shortage of bridge jumps, chase scenes or other General Lee mayhem, so they've got my vote. That is one bitchin' ride.7/10
