walleyegirlcarol I liked this movie a lot but took a couple of stars off because the actors look completely out of place in the wilderness. The girl who plays Amy actually does a pretty good job with a fly rod but it's pretty clear the rest of them have never caught a fish in their lives. Serious points for a fun and beautiful movie though. I want the director to publish the location of the streams and rivers so I can go check them out. I completely cracked up that the creature they stumble on looks like an otter and not a Bigfoot. She is so cute, my kids love her and made me go back and forth over the few shots she is in about 10 times. The other thing that was so neat was how well they captured small town culture. If you haven't lived in a small town you have no idea how old it gets with everyone knowing what is going on in your life all the time. But even so, you still have this unspoken bond when it comes to outsiders. We actually had a call chain every time some sort of fed would enter the last town I live in. The FBI agents in this movie were so similar to the COs from the Twin Cities we see poking around I completely cracked up. Fun movie, I recommend it.
geraldyelverton I had the pleasure of viewing this movie at a showing in Modesto. On a whim I saw this film without any prior knowledge of it existence. To my surprise I had a very fun outing. The plot, though a little zany and out there was highly entertaining. The actors were decent and attractive and portrayed characters that were real and relatable. Do not expect to see any celebrities or AFI legends, but for an indie project the casting directors were able to put together a stellar team. The music and score was also enjoyable as it really fit and complemented the tone of the story. All in all I recommend any to spend the time to watch this film in full. If you watch it as a group or with a friend it will definitely be a more entertaining venture. Well done filmmakers.
equazcion An attempt at a slick Hollywood comedy, which is why it comes off as amateurish, since there just wasn't enough money involved to pull that off. This is especially apparent in the soundtrack, which consists of the same punk rock sample looped over and over in every music-backed scene from beginning to end. Visual effects were just this side of acceptable. Directing and acting were almost there but not quite (Elyse Levesque was one notable exception, who aside from being beautiful also manages to craft a convincingly unique and interesting character).8/10.Why? Well, for all its shortcomings, there is an apparent effort and care here on the parts of all involved (director, writers, actors, etc), resulting in what I suppose I would call an unexpected innocent charm; which not only kept me watching but also had me enjoying nearly every minute. I also feel the movie's current rating is unduly harsh and it deserves a little more recognition. Bad indie movies normally leave me struggling to keep my brain from liquifying and leaking out my ear, as they pretend to be something better than they are. This is a film that knows its limits and plays within them. It helps that the story was more original than most films of this ilk, and the production values were actually a lot better than they should have been given the constraints. I should also note that the genre of "comedy" doesn't entirely fit, as there aren't many actual attempts to make the audience laugh. This is more of a lighthearted rompy adventure, and in that regard I feel it could please more than disappoint, as long as you don't go in with other expectations.I think this writer/director could pull off some truly great work with just a little more money, and I will definitely be waiting for his next film. The actors also have great potential. In the meantime, this made for a fun little indie outing, even if it was neither slick nor artsy.PS. Despite the probably-true claim that most of the reviews so far for this movie were posted by fake accounts or people close to the production, I'm not one of those. I've been on IMDb for 11 years, have posted 50 other reviews, and had nothing to do with the production of this movie, nor do I have any connection to anyone who did.
Kevin D Carr I had the pleasure of seeing the film in the ornate Tampa Theater, where I saw the film on a whim, not expecting a lot. Boy was I surprised! This film had a great cast, and a great story to match. I was so happy to see Elaine Miles again, as a fan of the Northern Exposure show. She absolutely killed it as the no-filter, pot smoking grandma. I often see major Hollywood comedies and am often disappointed by the lack of laughs, but this movie had it in spades. This film had everything from a Blues Brothers inspired chase scene to the best of teen hijinks. Overall, this movie movie was a very fun watch and if you get the chance to see this in the theater, it is well worth the ticket price to see this on the big screen.
