Rorschach This is one of the movie that gives me a pleasant movie experience and like in a game of a first person view. I felt like i'm with Grace throughout in the movie too.. I love it.. Its not about the scariness but this film captured my feelings for it.. I watch lots of Exorcism or Possession films, this film is a new experience for me on such films.. Really appreciate the work of all the people who are involve in this film. The actors also do well in their role.. The only thing this film need to improve is the advertisement. I feel lots of people are not aware about this movie.. I dunno about what others think about this film but to me i give it a 10 stars here to support the creators, actors and actress. Good job!
Desertman84 Grace: The Possession is a film told from the devil's point of view.It stars the gorgeous Alexia Fast, the sexy siren who seduced Tom Cruise in Jack Reacher,as the Grace,a beautiful college freshman that appears to be naive about the real world. But apparently, she appears to be possessed by devil, who has complete control of her mind and body. After an incident happens at the university where Grace is attending during a party, her grandmother takes her under her care and tries to seek the help of priests to free her from the devil's spell before things really get out of hand for Grace.Alexis Knapp,Brett Dier,Joel David Moore,Clarke Peters and Alan Dale co- star with Alexa while Jeff Chan was the director of the film. The film was definitely original as it was told from the devil's point of view as I have mentioned in the previous paragraph. The viewer may somehow have to adjust watching it as we see the camera moving in an awkward way wherein it focus towards to the character while speaking.Aside from depriving us of the virginal beauty of Alexa for most part of the film, the way the director shot the film proved to be somewhat more of a distraction to the viewer especially when some scenes are shot incoherently and the camera gets shaky from time to time.As far as the story goes, there was nothing original as it was clichéd and predictable. What also bother me is it is somewhat subtly has anti-Catholic themes as it shows that Catholics including priest and deacons are helpless against the devil.Although it was pointed out that the grandmother is somewhat being punished after she left the church,it still could not hide the fact that the film portrays them to be absolutely helpless no matter how great their relationship is with the Lord. Finally, too bad that the movie wasn't adventurous enough to show something new story wise since what will be featured is something that one have already seen in other movies of the same genre.
rajivness OK so this is YET another possession movie. The afflicted here is an innocent church going girl who is stalked by a malevolent force. The Good (or nice): No nudity. Tastefullly executed camera work which eliminates the need for nudity which is quite common in this genre. The Bad (or annoying): the movie is a POV movie i.e. you see events from the eyes of the protagonist. This tactic - while interesting, doesn't make up for the shallow script and storyline. The Ugly (or boring): There is NOTHING original about this movie. It is greatly inspired by The Exorcism of Emily Rose - right from the College Campus locale to events happening on campus. The 'take me instead' is borrowed from The Exorcist - end scene. Also similar to Anthony Hopkins' - The Rite (where an exorcist is possessed). The cruel Grand Mother is borrowed from the similar religiously deranged character from the Carrie movie (carrie's mother).I'm upset that they never explained what the malevolent force/entity was. They never really explained much about the Protagonist's mother - until the very end - which kind of explains why the mother denies God in the beginning of the movie. But nothing more than that. The story is shallow and lacking. They could've added some layers to the characters - so we feel something for them and understand - why they are the way they are. Though, the characters are kinda bland.OK, so avoid this movie at all costs - if you've seen any of the movies I've cited. if you've never seen any possession type movie - then you may watch this movie - keeping in mind - that you should have extremely low entertainment expectations.
smoke0 I was really pleasantly surprised. The first-person POV is well done, the cast can act, the story is complete, and there isn't a single wasted moment. What may turn some potential viewers off is that this movie is also Lifetime-channel-ready, as there is no gore or nudity (at least in the version I saw), which normally would be fine for me, because I don't need the typical tacky tropes of horror movies to be able to enjoy a horror movie. However, in this case, the lack of nudity and gore is actually too safe and too tame, as it detracts from the movie's overall impact, especially with the back story glimpses and progressive changes in the lead character, but that's hardly a reason to stay away. And there must be the inevitable director's cut available sooner or later...
