David Roggenkamp "I Know What You Did Last Summer" spawns a related sequel in typical horror movie fashion. What was supposed to be a death and cover-up in the last film, comes back to haunt the town inhabitants in this sequel. What starts out as a prank the year after the original, quickly turns into horror as one of the teenagers involved dies. They slowly, in typical teen slasher fashion, get picked off one by one until only two are left and survive – again in typical teen slasher fashion. What makes this movie so good is the fact that the teenagers involved, attempt to leave the past behind them and get on with their lives. This works quite well, until one of the teenagers, now an adult, is back from California, weird text messages and other events remind them of their grizzly prank gone awry, and now they are forced to deal with it. Clearly everyone must form a bond of trust with people they otherwise do not trust – anyone could be the suspect and anyone of them could die at any time.Unlike in previous teen slasher installments, this one pulls a few one shots that work quite well – the fisherman that is after them uses a hook to perform the murders and nothing else; this same hook is his demise as it seems to be able to inflict heavy damage to him, when otherwise guns and other methods of fatal wounds have no such effect. Several times throughout this movie, the hunted soon turn into the attacker as they try to take down the menace that would otherwise threaten their lively hoods – rare for a movie, especially the teen slasher genre. This however, is no thriller, as there is only suspense for the audience and lots of anxiety for the victims involved.Originally posted to Orion Age (http://www.orionphysics.com/? p=4618).
Wuchak Released in 2006, "I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer" is about a teen prank gone wrong in a Colorado ski resort town. The youths swear themselves to silence, but problems mount the next summer when it becomes clear that someone knows their secret. Then the bodies start piling up. The teens are played by Brooke Nevin, David Paetkau, Torrey DeVitto, Ben Easter and Seth Packard while Michael Flynn and K.C. Clyde play the sheriff and deputy. This third installment in the series was straight-to-video and therefore lacks the polish of the first two movies. You'll particularly notice this with the weak pacing and the lesser acting talents of the youthful cast. Despite these flaws, it's a worthwhile addition to the series because, like the first sequel, they completely switch the location, this time to a ski resort in the mountains of Colorado (albeit shot in Utah). I can't think of any other film that takes place in this environment so it makes it stand out. I also like how one of the teens, Zoe, plays in a grunge rock band and quite a bit of the runtime involves her band's practice pad in a barn or them playing out. Nevin is also a plus; she makes for a strong heroine and has a striking face. I further appreciate how the writers actually tied this film to the previous two, which you wouldn't think they'd be able to do since it's an entirely different cast of characters in a completely different environment, not to mention it being almost ten years after the first movie. The film runs 92 minutes.GRADE: C+
acidburn-10 Okay I normally stay well clear of the recent straight to video or DVD slasher movies, cause they are poorly made, terrible acting and well the list goes on, but through the years there have been some rather decent ones, but unfortunately this isn't one of them.Well it's been 9 years since the previous sequel, and well it does seem rather pointless bringing another one after all this time and plus I was a big fan of the first two, which were both fun and I did hope that they would have some fresh ideas for the third instalment but nope it's basically the same thing just with less production values and no star power whatsoever. This is just plods along with seemingly no effort and even the characters are carbon copies from the first movie (and not very good ones either), okay it does actually work on the so bad it's good scale in some places like when a character is about to commit suicide and then gets spooked by a coat and then gets killed, a classically cheesy moment I must say and the big reveal at the end of the killer was just priceless and stupid. All in all stick to "I Know" and "I Still Know" they're a million times better, this one brings nothing new or interesting to the story.
jfgibson73 The third part of this series was no fun. Some more kids start getting killed by the fisherman because of a prank that went wrong. It all follows the same format as the original--first a couple people get intimidated, then a couple minor characters die, and finally in the third act, the killer stops playing and gets a few of the major characters before being killed off by the female lead. If you can't wait to see another sequence in which some one looks around an abandoned room asking, "Hello? Who the hell's there?" until the chase begins, then you should see this movie right away.I did like the girl who played Zoe and her performance at the talent competition. That was about it.Apparently the fisherman is now an undead, unkillable spirit, along the lines of Jason or Freddy. He appears to punish teens who accidentally kill someone and don't tell the truth about it. The only way I got through this movie was by doing other tasks while it played. If they make a fourth installment, that's probably how I'll watch that one, too.
