dandllarsen This movie is nothing but slapstick, stupid pratfalls, and gross jokes. I regret buying it, I regret the time I spent watching it, and I will never watch it again. The storyline is sad and unbelievable with nonprofit he Malory whatsoever. The acting is bad, there are dozens of sad stereotypes, and it was not NOT funny. Do NOT watch this horrible movie.
Reno Rangan I'm reviewing a decade old film. This kind of themes is very much done for the current era, particularly in Hollywood. You can't believe this guy did a film like this back then. I'm obviously talking about Ryan Reynolds. It was just for fun, other than that there's nothing to expect from it. Clearly we know how the story begins and ends, but we're only going to see the middle parts, how they developed it, especially the comedies. All the actors were decent, particularly Amy Smart was much preferred actress than what she's now. Ryan Reynolds with those dual getups was not bad either and Anna Faris was excellent in the comedy parts. Maybe it is a chick film, or close to that category, but the perspective of the story was from a man.Being a geek in the high school, how he transformed into a handsome man is the film. When he visits his hometown, all the old memories comes back to the life, particularly after seeing his old close friend who he had a crush on her, but never revealed it. So it is like his second and probably final chance to express his feeling. How it all develops and ends was the remaining story.Being a comedy, it has not delivered anything big. It might have effected good way, if I had watched when it came out. So not everyone who watches it would end up happily. It is not easy to suggest this film for everybody, but if you're looking for a comedy, some comedy, it will work okay. And again, don't take it seriously, even some of the jokes are too ordinary, but tried its best. An average comedy, but a good time pass film.5/10
Irishchatter OK I thought it was getting good when Ryan Reynold's character was fat and had a story around the fact he liked this girl but can't, as she only thinks of him as just a friend. Then he becomes his sexy self and all of a sudden, I just lost interest and moved onto the next movie. I think him being fat had a better story then him being slim because you heard it all before, a good looking guy gets all the ladies and starts being completely absurd! I would've rathered to have seen Ryan Reynold's character getting slimmer in the end and then getting his true love because, I might gain interest and the fact, it makes the story go smoothly for me as the viewer!I just have to give this 1/10, I thought it was disappointing and just boring. I think this is one of Ryan Reynolds worst movie he has ever done!
bekahhough If the only reason you're "friends" with a woman is to get her to sleep with you you're a terrible person. Just because your friend isn't sexually attracted to you dear neck beards does not make her a bad person. If the only value women have to you is to sleep with them and you can't see the value in her friendship only then that makes you a terrible person. This movie encompasses the sexist idea that if a girl has a male friend she doesn't want to sleep with she's a bad person when actually it's the "friend" who is dehumanizing her and devaluing her friendship that is the a**hole. Also this film just isn't very well made.
