ghazwan124 Atlast a sigh of relief for the bollywood fans.the year 2014 was so far going pathetic for the Indian movies fans but this long wait has been broken and the one to do so is The Movie Khoobsurat.Awesome acting by Soonam Kapoor And The debut-ant Fawad Khan.Sound Tracks were even good. The story a bit too draggy but still was good enough to hold the audiences on to their seats.all in all it was a good mixture of comedy and romance with a bit of drama too.thumbs up to the production of the movie and its cast.Hope you guys continue to do the awesome job and help bollywood revive its prestige unlike what the other movies are doing. So i will request everyone to go and watch this one.its a complete family entertainer Habeb Al_janaby
DareDevilKid Reviewed by: Dare Devil Kid (DDK)Rating: 3.8/5 starsWalt Disney, never a stranger to princesses, crowns another as it ventures further into Bollywood with Shashanka Ghosh's romantic confection, "Khoobsurat" – a variation on Hrishikesh Mukherjee's 1980 film of the same name. And the studio's specialty proves a pretty good fit.Mili Chakravarty (Sonam Kapoor) is a high-energy, middle-class, and somewhat daffy physiotherapist for an IPL cricket team when she is hired by an aristocratic family near Jaipur to rehabilitate its patriarch (Aamir Raza Hussain), who's been using a wheelchair for years. His son, Vikram (the heavy-lidded Pakistani heartthrob, Fawad Afzal Khan), a shrewd businessman, is not only engaged to a woman of his economic station but is also monitored by his imperious, upper- crust mother (Ratna Pathak Shah). The brash, often clumsy Mili, in her mixed-pattern ensembles, descends on their estate like a tornado, bumping into statuary, dancing with the servants and winning hearts, especially Vikram's.Anne Hathaway made a splash in Disney's, "The Princess Diaries," and the rangy Ms. Kapoor (who descends from a Bollywood dynasty) shares some of her early incandescence, along with a Julia Roberts-like smile. Khan wisely underplays against her supernova, never trying to eclipse her. Kiron Kher is her usual rambunctious, affable self while Ratna Pathak Shah impeccably reiterates her famous character of Maya Sarabhai from the small-screen. Aamir Raza Hussain clearly should be offered plenty more film roles.Bollywood films have appropriated Hollywood tales and imagery for years, but Mr. Ghosh, using a pleasing pastel palette, deftly achieves a particularly Disney-like polish. And he avoids making-of- a-royal pitfalls: Ms. Kapoor's character never abandons her humor for refinement. Twice, Mili says that she was raised to speak up for herself. Not a bad characteristic for a future Rajput princess."Khoobsurat" turns out to be that extremely rare remake that's actually better than the original (as good as Hrishikesh Mukhergee's film was, Ghosh's retelling surprisingly manages to better it ever- so- slightly with renewed verve, zest, and infectious zaniness). And even though Sonam isn't even a shade as terrific as Rekha was, she still breathes new life into the story and holds her own in this remake. This one goes down as one of the better rom-coms of Bollywood.
Kushal Ashok I watched this movie not just because my wife wanted to watch it, but also because it is a Disney Production. This fairytale has enough punches and turns to keep you interested and aligned with the story. It lives up to the expectations of audience by including a number of activities and events that are known to all of us. For instance, some of the hobbies and postures used by the protagonists are funny yet common.I liked the set up and all the actors played their characters well. The USP of this movie for me is the fact that it connects with you in no time and then maintains it till the end.
meni369 Disney's 'Khoobsurat' is a perfect fairytale. It is utterly enjoyable and very sweet. Storyline is nice, though a typical Disney venture. But that is what it is supposed to be, right? You won't miss the typical Disney air since the very beginning. The palace, the prince, the clumsy misfit beauty. Initially Mili reminded me of Anne Hathaway in 'The Princess Diaries' though it was only my initial impression. Mili is a bigger misfit. I totally loved her clothes. So bright and colorful! She made all her scenes look like a spring-garden! Some may have objections on that but then again, I have an inclination for colors. So I totally loved them. When Vikram enters in her room and wonders "room ka kya bana diya hai!", I was thinking that the room was messy but beautiful. She is the little miss sunshine who brings happiness into the Rathore family.Fawad Khan seemed to be a real-life prince. Attaboy Fawad! Could you please have been a little less Princely? You are killing girls man! #FawadFever has spread like an epidemic. OK, no more "fazool ki baatein". As an actor, Fawad Khan has (if any) very little left to prove. Now as a Disney Prince, he has aced it! He has showed us that he is one of the finest actors in the continent. So subtle and so delicate! He perfectly knows what to do and when and how much as well. It is a delight to see how the restrained Prince converts into the lover boy next door. Especially when he talks to Mili's mom towards the end of the movie. The romance between Mili and Vikram is very sweet. My personal favorite "aww" moment is that when Vikram comes to Mili to talk about the "other" night. They were saying something to each other but they were saying something else to each other inside their minds. That is not unfamiliar for 'Zindagi Gulzar Hai' fans. There were a number of super funny scenes. But my personal favorite is the "kidnap" part. I found that totally hilarious. Kirron Kher seemed to me a little too much, but some moms are just like that. Bade Saab's (Vikram's father) character was adorable.Sonam has evolved much as an actor. Her last movie I watched was 'Aisha' and her acting skills were frustrating. But she does well in this movie. May be because Mili is so much like her own self! The locations are beautiful. What could be a better option than Rajasthan for a Royal setting in India? Some editing could be done here and there though. And may be one more romantic song? One thing that kind of disappointed me is that they did not include the "Maa ka phone" video which is uploaded on YouTube. We really wanted to see Fawad dance on big screen. So may be next time in his next film!So my verdict: Go watch Khoobsurat(2014) and come back home with a smile on your face. Happiness guaranteed.
