adios-muerte I love these kind of movies. But the acting and script is insanely bad.
desmondymlai It feels playing a game but it's even more interactive and realistic than a game coz it was recorded in real person. The story is fair but those scenes are so real. I am sure it would be awesome if I watch this in a 4D cinema. The story is quite abstract that they don't really tell you what is happening, but then they tried to tell you step-by-step. But I'm still not very sure the kill switch killed the real world or the copied world.People who like watching gameplay would definitely enjoy this.
Myriam Nys "Kill switch" boasts superb computer-generated effects and visuals, which, basically, is the only reason why I kept watching it. The apocalypse hitting the Netherlands (of all countries) every now and then produces scenes of great beauty, weirdness or both. However, the movie fails utterly with regard to a crucial element : it does not succeed in explaining its basic premise. It is possible that the narrative was inspired by a scientific concept of genius, or by a novel of rare insight and cleverness, but who's going to know ? Think of a lawyer who has to defend a prominent celebrity accused of manslaughter, who has thought up a dozen thunderingly good defenses, but can't explain or articulate any of them. Or think of a male teenager who, during a wedding feast, meets a woman of stunning beauty and charm, and gets so tongue-tied that he is incapable of any kind of meaningful interaction. ("I don't think we've met before. Are you one of Karen's cousins ?" "I"m.. I'm... Aaaargh.. Arrggl... Butterfly ! I eat kidneys !") Well, the movie is that bad.As if all of this wasn't bad enough, there is also the nervous, choppy, hectic style, which, coupled to gaming aesthetics, robs the movie of almost any possibility of character development. What am I saying ? It is difficult even to figure out who is or isn't a character, just as it is difficult to figure out what, if anything, the character is / was / will be doing. It's flicker flicker jump flash flicker switch jump turn turn switch flicker, pretty much for the whole length. Other reviewers may have mentioned this before me, but I'll say it anyway : do NOT watch the movie if you are subject to migraines or epilepsy. I gather that this is the director's first foray into cinema, so perhaps he can take comfort in an old saying : the first pancake of the batch is always a failure.
Hellmant 'KILL SWITCH': Three Stars (Out of Five) A sci-fi/thriller about a physicist, and former pilot, who must save the universe when an experiment, dealing with unlimited quantum energy, goes horrifically wrong. It stars Dan Stevens, Berenice Marlohe, Tygo Gernandt, Charity Wakefield and Mike Reus. It was directed by first time feature filmmaker Tim Smit, and it was written by Charlie Kindinger and Omid Nooshin. I found it to be a mildly entertaining, and somewhat interesting, sci-fi/thriller flick. The story is set in the near future, when a power company (called Alterplex) has built a huge tower which can access unlimited quantum energy. Strange things begin occurring around the world though, because of this new power device, and former pilot (and physicist) Will Porter (Stevens) is called on to help. He's sent into an alternate universe (which is a mirrored version of Earth); and it also has a giant tower which controls quantum energy. Once there Will realizes that this universe is in much worse shape than his own, and he has to team-up with alternate versions of people that he knows (in his own world), in order to try to save both of their dimensions. Most of the movie is filmed in a first-person perspective, like a video game. I think this effect worked well in the 2015 action flick 'HARDCORE HENRY', but here it's a little less effective; primarily because this film doesn't 100% commit to it. I think Dan Stevens is a good actor (especially in the awesome 2014 action-thriller 'THE GUEST'), but here his talents are a little wasted (especially since he's barely on screen in it). The film has a great premise though, and some cool effects, it just seems like it could have been a lot better in my opinion.
