R.F. Montgomery This is a compelling, serious film about psychotic behavior, rather than a typical serial killer flick. It certainly has it's suspenseful moments but where it really shines is as a character study, and even more strangely, as a love story. I haven't seen a film in a long time that has so successfully externalized such an internal character. The film is so obsessively told in the first person of the main character, Joseph, that we nearly breath as he breaths, think as he thinks. When we first meet Anna, the future love interest, it's so uncomfortable to see Joseph's reaction that it's almost unwatchable. We feel Joseph's struggle to quell his inner demons, to cast away his violent thoughts so he can have a normal existence with Anna. This is a killer who truly does not want to kill. In this way he becomes human, sympathetic, a metaphor for anyone who struggles to cure their inner ghosts."Killer Me" is one of the most interesting, unique films to come out this year. The acting is all top-notch, especially for a cast of complete unknowns. The cinematography is very atmospheric, switching between the more sedate and extremely stark depending on the mood of the character. The sound score is brilliant. If you can manage to find a copy, check it out.
Jason Williams Wow. This is by far one of the strangest, most engaging independent films I've seen in years. It's part horror film, reminiscent of REPULSION or HENRY: A PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER but also has a fascinating, uncomfortable love story at it's center. It's the kind of film Hollywood would never have the balls to make. The actors are both great. The film must have been shot for very little money but the production value is excellent. Zachary Hansen is a director to keep your eye out for in the future.
Jenna Forge This movie had me from the get go. It definitely had intense action sequences mixed with poignant character development. I was deeply moved as I love movies about serial killers and this one did not fall short. In fact it had more heart than most serial killer films because it really got inside the psychosis of the main character. It's also better really well shot for such a low budget movie. With all the bad horror films coming out these days this one really stands out in the crowd. It just goes to show that with some creativity and care you can accomplish a lot without having a huge Hollywood budget.9 out of 10!
bcnla A masterful portrait of the complex mind of a serial killer. It is refreshing to see that there are still daring filmmakers left. Provoking and very original, `Killer Me' manages to put a grip on your brain. Once you start watching you can't stop. You are sucked into the mind of this dark Criminology student trying to find out whether or not he committed a series of murders. The director bravely puts on display all the tools he used but that seem forgotten by Hollywood. I am talking about interesting and powerful characters, intense acting, an outstanding sound design and wonderful camera work. `Killer Me' is without a doubt one of the most interesting and powerful movies I have seen in a long time. My advice to Hollywood.see the movie and take notes.
