BA_Harrison Olaf Ittenbach films rarely make much sense, the acting is often awful, and the dialogue nearly always sucks, but they usually provide enough realistic splatter to compensate for such drawbacks; so imagine how I feel having just watched the R1 release of Le6ion of the Dead and discovered that US distributors have cut 8 minutes of splatter. That's like trimming the nudity from a porn film!! For once, I wish I'd got the R2 release, which is apparently uncut...Oh well, all I can do is review the version I have seen, and once again, Olaf proves that he ain't anywhere near as proficient at writing and directing as he is at make-up effects: the story is a mess, the performances are uniformly awful, and the dialogue completely risible (a pathetic attempt to emulate the quickfire parlance of Quentin Tarantino).What we get is a weak horror comedy that spends its first half following several seemingly unconnected characters—two friends, William and Luke (Michael Carr and Russell Friedenberg), who are captured by serial killer Psycho Mike (Christopher Kriesa), a couple of undead psychos, beautiful waitress Geena (Kimberly Liebe), and a mysterious blond man (Matthias Hues)—before transforming midway into a shoddy From Dusk Till Dawn rip-off.But although it's hard to imagine that 8 minutes of effects could improve matters much, I'm willing to give Ittenbach the benefit of the doubt, and therefore refuse to rate this film until I have seen the uncut version that the director originally intended.Now excuse me while I take a quick gander at eBay (I don't want to pay too much for an extra 8 minutes).

siderite This could almost become a cult movie. It involves idiots working with and against the powerful demon Tagaio, played by my favorite actor of all time: Mathias Hues. He played in so many bad US movies that his Germanic accent is almost gone.In this one, he doesn't even fight. He is just the comic relief. The other actors play their parts (of idiots) really well, completely immersing the viewer in the atmosphere of the movie. The end part is an almost exact replica of the From Dusk Till Dawn bar fights, and by exact I mean really funny and completely different.In the end (spoiler!!) Mathias Hues reveals his real identity: he is also an idiot, and the Legion of Idiots is finally defeated.Now really, a bad movie, with decent low budget effects and good film editing. But other than that, the script, acting and directing sucked. If you get really intoxicated with something, you might find it hilarious.

KHayes666 This movie pizzed me off. It shows flashes of being a great movie then fizzles out, then shows another flash then fizzles out again. It also seemed like a two part movie with the first part being the 2 idiots getting kidnapped by the rabid madman while 2 morons kill people for The Blonde Man (played by karate master Matthies Hues) I mean when you have a hot female lead character, chances are the movie will turn out OK but not this one.The second half of the movie was basically a From Dusk Till Dawn rip-off with the worst ending possible. After all the main character's friends are dead...instead of going into one on one combat with The Blonde Man (and probably getting killed giving his fighting background) he recites some mumbo jumbo and presto....turns out it was all a dream Talk about a waste of a promising movie. With a lot of touching up on the script this might have been a good movie, as it turned out it had more holes than swiss cheese 5 out of 10

fibreoptic Legion of The Dead is split into two parts like 'From Dusk Till Dawn'. The first half focuses mainly on William and Luke getting kidnapped by psycho Mike and two legion members recruiting people in to the legion of the dead. The Second half focuses on a group of people trying to escape a diner surrounded by Togaio and the legion of the dead. The first half is pretty good and enthralling making you think that this is going to be surprisingly a good film but uh oh wait a second there...the second half spoils it completely! And because the second half makes little to no sense the first half is there in turn wasted. Togaio waves his arms about far too much (the actor must of thought "WOH i'm playing Satan, better act the part" and over acts the part). The humour is pretty much non-existent in the second half too which is one of the main bits that made the first half good. The film makers obviously tried to do a "From Dusk Till Dawn" movie and failed miserably. Worth renting but do not buy this movie as it's hard enough watching it all the way through the first time! It's a shame because done right this movie could have been a winner. 5/10
