rgolan-trevize Gibson, Dick, Sterling all together in this movie... It's the only CP and real Sci-F movie ever made in Italy... I've had the fortune to see it in Italian and the depth of dialogs is great... The storyline follow the standard of Gibson's books... the plot is not necessary, but the landscape is everything and this is what happens in this movie.I'm sorry for all the people who believe this is a crappy movie but in my opinion that means that they have never understood what cyberpunk means and how it must be represented... and this movie represents it.Here there is everything: Sprawl, Hacking, Virtual Reality, Surviving, Cybermad, Corporations, Future...
HighlanderArg OK, so you've always wondered what the matrix would be like with a good leading actor (rather than the wooden Reeves), a better script, no spectacular action scenes, and low budget. This is your film. We have Chris Lambert in one of his best films (along with "Subway" and of course, "Highlander"), this is not his average film. The goal is to erase the game in which its main character is aware of his condition of "gamething" and is damned to live and die. This Super Mario working for the Mafia (Abatantuono) is terrifically great. Sergio Rubini is great too, and the whole cast in general kicks ass! What to do with low budget? THIS MOVIE!8/10
kervinjp I'm writing about the English-dubbed DVD version. The FIRST time I saw this movie was in Japan. It was an Italian version with Japanese subtitles. I couldn't follow the story (I don't speak Italian (or French), and the subtitles were way too fast), but the visuals were alluring nonetheless... After returning to America, I have seen the English-dubbed DVD.***SPOILER:*** I DO have a problem with the crux-point of the story: a computer-character's ascension to self-actualization because of a virus(!) is a little too extreme for me to accept. This concept destroyed my suspension of disbelief. BUT(!)... I believe the dialog and the vocal-presentation by whoever did the voice of Jimi's ex was perfect. Excellent delivery. As an aside, I must admit that I usually watch this movie with the sound off along with 5 or 6 other movies on separate monitors while listening to music.
[ruckle] I loved the movie. It's one of those movies where the plot isn't really that important. It's the mood, the world that is shown that's the great part. The acting is ok i guess, but i'm not sure. Thing is, i have seen the movie 4 or 5 times. And every time i just get swept away by the whole setting. The world around the actors (the sets if you will) and the music (could write a lot just about that) are great. So i haven't really started watching it really critically, i just watch. And for me, that's what represents a great movie. Your'e to busy watching to think about if the special effects are good, or if there's something else not performed with technical perfection. Take a look at it, chances are you'll love it.
