SnoopyStyle A baby is left on a woman's doorstep. However it doesn't go well and the baby keeps getting pass along. Junior (Michael Oliver) is a real problem child. Even the nuns can't take him. Ben (John Ritter) and Flo Healy (Amy Yasbeck) are completely 100% infertile. His father Big Ben Healy (Jack Warden) sells the sporting goods store and is leaving him with nothing. He would love to adopt but Florence is selfish who only agrees to adopt so that she can join other parents at parties. Adoption agent Igor Peabody (Gilbert Gottfried) cons the Healys into taking Junior. Junior is a pen pal to prison inmate The Bow Tie Killer Martin Beck (Michael Richards). Then Beck escapes from prison and shows up at their door.Junior isn't funny or cute or anything. Ritter is reacting. Yasbeck is annoying. It's not funny at all and it's basically the same joke over and over again anyways. It tries to have heart but it doesn't work. There is nobody to care about. This dark comedy needs a better child actor and a more interesting sense of humor. Him taking a bat to everybody is actually good but it's a rare smirk worthy joke.
d_m_s Well, I like it as a kid and for a while thought it might be worth a re-watch so recorded it from TV recently. It's very much a kids film and difficult to appreciate as an adult, although as a nostalgia trip it was OK.John Ritter is great as always. No significant moments worth a mention. Junior wreaks havoc on everything an everyone (proabably everyone remembers the birthday party scene as Junior launches all the present into the swimming pool and causes as much trouble as possible).By no means awful, as it is an easy watch, it is not worth a re-watch.
crazy_chick_152002 Watched this movie today for the first time in years .... And I have to say its still great laughs and being older I was shocked at how well Michael Oliver did with out him this wouldn't be such a hit he was perfect .... SO after watching the movie I was wondering what come of him .... I haven't seen him on film so I looked it up and was sad to see there's not a whole lot of movies starring him ... I mean he was such a great actor .... better than some of the top actors today . Maybe in the future someone will come up with a great ideal and try to further the movie ... maybe junior could grow up and have a problem child kid .... just saying it was such a great hit and I know a lot of people would see another movie if one day it should continue .
Matthew Phillips I remember watching this movie several times as a very young kid, and there were parts of it (many in fact) that I did not understand. I think I have seen it once as an adult, and I then understood those parts. The only problem with viewing it as an adult was that it was not entertaining to me at all. So what kind of movie is this? Is it a "kids movie"? Not hardly. It contains language and subject matter not suitable for kids. Is it a hyperbole of what every parent feels like they are going through with their own children? Maybe, but then why wouldn't it focus more on John Ritter's character instead of Junior? When a film has a 7-year-old as its main character, in order to do well with it's audience, it should be a movie for the seven and under crowd, otherwise people older than that will have no way to relate (even 8-year-olds wouldn't want to see a movie about a kid who is whole year younger than them). I'm pretty sure this film did not do well in the box office, and the reason has to be because it was unable to find a niche in the market.
