Michael_Elliott Shark Attack 2 (2001)** 1/2 (out of 4) Don't let the title fool you because even though they're selling this as a sequel to the 1999 movie this here is actually a remake of JAWS 3. Let's see if this plot reminds you of anything. We have a new water park open and its greedy owner likes the idea of capturing a Great White shark that recently killed a woman. They're able to get the creature in for opening day but it kills a man and breaks free from the park so the doctor at the park must team up with a TV personality to try and kill not one but six mutant sharks. The mutant shark part is the only thing that connects this to the first film. I'll admit up front that I love sharks and this movie was entertaining enough to get its job done and it's certainly a lot better than JAWS 3. What shocked me so much is that Universal went to court over some Italian rips and got them pulled from theaters and these films have never shown up on official releases in America yet here's a movie that rips off just about everything storywise and yet nothing is done about it. And that's a good thing because as long as you don't take this thing too seriously you should have fun watching it. This is a step up from the first movie for a number of reasons but the biggest is that we get a lot more shark attacks this time out. Yes, we're still seeing stock footage of sharks but there are a couple dummies here as well. One of the dummies is pretty funny because it's obviously just a blown up rubber shark and it's certainly way too big for what's going on in the scene. Another one of the sharks appears to be some sort of cut out but I couldn't tell what kind. The shark attacks are a little better done here as well, although it's still an obvious fake shark that is biting down. In one of the attacks it appears that the shark is gargling the victims blood, which is something I don't think I've seen in any other shark movie. Thorsten Kaye plays the main doctor and is good enough for the part. Nikita Ager plays a victim's sister but she comes off quite annoying from start to finish and her relationship with the doctor isn't very believable. Those wanting high class productions aren't going to enjoy this thing but if you're a fan of the genre and get an added kick out of shark movies then there's enough here to make it worth viewing at least once.
Vomitron_G I caught this one on TV some time ago and no I wasn't expecting anything of it. And that's exactly what I got out of it: Nothing. Some strange chemical phenomenon in my brain makes sure that I keep watching this tripe, even though I've had it up to here with all those cheap shark-crap-movies made around the turn of this millennium. I saw the first Casper Van Dien "Crap Attack" fest, and thought it pretty much sucked (actually, I think it sucked, as it was that forgettable I just can't remember what it went like). And so did this one, sucky & crappy. I admit, it was kind of fun to see all the clichés and the typical plot elements & holes unfold before my eyes and the cast did their best with what was given (I guess), but they were all not much of big talents. Plastic shark-heads popping out of the water and underwater CGI-sharks that are less menacing then the ones in "Finding Nemo". We've all seen that before. So yes, I know, if I knew I was going to nag about the amazing "Shark Attack 2", then why did I decide to watch it anyway? Well, it's like getting sh!t-faced drunk: once in a while doesn't hurt, right? And the day after, you can nag about your headache.
atinder Why did I even bother watching this movie, when the first movie was so horrible? Well the answers to that question is - I thought that this movie could be an improvement of first and yes this movie was a improvement from the first but not by much!.The Plot: The mutant sharks from Dr. Craven's experiments in "Shark Attack 1" are back, this time choosing Cape Town, South Africa as their hunting ground. Two sisters, Amy and Samantha, while diving near a wreck in the reef are attacked by a shark; Samantha survives. One week later, Dr. Nick Harris and his assistant get the shark and install it as a new attraction at Water World - a Sea World rip-off. When the shark escapes, Nick and Samantha go to hunt it and discover that there are 6 mutant Great Whites living in a cave near the beach, and the Water World's surfing competition might be the next victim! Now they team up with Roy - a Discovery Channel shark hunter - to kill the beasts and save Cape Town. The reason i gave 2 out because the acting from everyone is this movie was better then acting in shark attack but still dose not mean it was good 2/10
captainjimi25 Both the plot of the film, and the acting within it, offended my eyes. Personally, and I believe anyone unfortunate enough to see this monstrous creation would agree, I think that there should be an enquiry as to why the actors and producers of this film have not been brought to trial for crimes against the human race! The sharks don't look real, they may as well have been made of plastic and filmed in a bathtub; the directing is about as effective as liquid mercury in cleaning mud off someone in a shower; and the acting is more wooden than the amazon forest. In other words this film manages to incorporate three important materials: plastic, metal and wood - it does not, however, entertain a person looking for a good film.DO NOT WATCH THIS FILM.
