ComedyFan2010 I am not sure how they managed to make this movie so bad. They seemed to try pretty hard to do that. When I heard the story I thought it would be hilarious. A woman gets artificial insemination and meets the love of her life the same day. This could have been very funny, but it was just the opposite of it.The thing is that it makes no sense. I don't see what happened with those to that after a few dates the guy without much questioning had no problems to raise somebody elses kids. Sure he was all shocked but didn't even consider the option of getting out. And then they have this lame fight based on miscommunication? Sure, there is a conflict needed in such a movie but there were so many opportunities to have a believable one with such a story.I have nothing against JLo and have seen her do some good acting before but in this movie she is just irritating. Bad acting and a very annoying voice. My god, how did this guy fall for her, especially since he didn't see her awesome "old ass". The guy's character is absolutely boring. There is nothing about him that makes him interesting, making cheese isn't enough, especially since there seems to be too much cheese. The single mom's group was just a sad disappointment. Yes, I get it they were going for slapstick, but Zoe freaking out at that birth just made her more dislikable again.. Sure, it was insanity and more gross than funny, but her overreaction to it was too much. The only good thing about this movie besides the idea is the adorable dog, he is the reason I give an extra point as he was some cute fellow. but he just made Zoe's character even more unlikable as I never saw her being nice to the little fellow, I remember her yelling at him though. The pug needed more screen time for sure.I feel bad for Tom Bosley that this was his last movie. Such a good and well known actor going away in this disaster..
thesar-2 Since it's been a few weeks since I've seen this and I finally have a chance to sit down and write my thoughts out, I figured I would go to the movie's trailer online to refresh my memory. Because…I had completely forgotten everything about this lame comedy. When the trailer, itself, has zero humor, originality or any minute display of chemistry between the two romantic leads…it all comes back to someone that had to endure the morning sickness known as: The Back-up Plan.Yes, it all came back to me. I remember watching this overlong, been there/done that and clichéd romp and thinking: IS THIS A COMEDY? I recall not laughing one single time one hour in and then clocking zero laughs until the finale.I will be honest, I didn't absolutely hate this movie, but I recall having zero emotion during it. Every single scene in this movie has been done one million times before and with far greater results. I remember these leads looking so disinterested in each other they might as well hated each other off screen. I sure as hell did.In the almost nonexistent plot, gorgeous gal somehow can't find "the one," meaning she wants, above love and a relationship, someone to impregnate her. So, she gets artificially impregnated. Insert hilarious meeting the man of her dreams in which she will hit all the clichés: hate him up front, lose him, find him, argue with him, fall for him, the lie will be revealed, the break up, the make up, the end.Besides bringing zero to the table, these filmmakers/actors sins run deep with adding no comedy or romance to a romantic comedy. If you've ever learned how to turn a TV on or buy a movie ticket, you've seen this before. Avoid this at all costs.* * * Final thoughts: Nope. Not on my radar. Ever. But, thanks to the great guys (and gal) at the How Did This Get Made studios, I added this to my playlist so I can listen to them ridicule it for about an hour or so. It was worth it, if just for the ridiculing.
ja-191-280465 Jennifer Lopez stars in yet another one of her sappy, romantic comedies as a love lorn woman desperate for true love. She's a successful business woman who becomes pregnant with twins through artificial insemination. Of course, none of this would make any sense if she didn't meet the man of her dreams (Alex O'Laughlin) who practically falls head over heels after their first encounter. After a wild night of passion, Zoe admits that she has not one, but two buns in the oven and despite the big surprise, Stan decides to pursue a relationship with her anyway. Really????! Overall, Stan and Zoe deal with a few bumps in the road, followed by major insecurities, especially Zoe due to her lack of trust and inability to develop a close connection with anyone. Now let's be serious, There is absolutely nothing new or surprising about this movie. It's your usual boy meets girl storyline which reminds you of how impossible it is to take something that's far from mediocre so seriously. "The Back-up Plan" is a decent movie to watch if you can't help shutting your brain off for more than 45 minutes.
mary-mandaliou I watched it because of Alex O'Loughlin. And because of him, and because of some funny moments, it was not a waste of time. The idea is not bad, but it had too many things to say in only one movie, so they all were a little messy. It could be much funnier - since the movie is supposed to be a comedy. Anyway, it was an optimistic fairy-tail about relationships and ever-lasting love.J.Lo is OK - I like her. She is pretty and this kind of romance/comedy movies are a lot like her. But Alex O'Loughlin... He Rocks! He is genuinely cute and expressional, he really looks like "the nice guy" of the fairy-tail. I just cannot wait to see him do more, and better things.
