sunchick116-872-583383 Wow, i didn't know Richard Gere could play such a creep. he really carries this movie. people are right about if House wasn't funny, he'd be this guy. This movie is really about what can happen when guilt can consume you and your feeling to redeem yourself turns into obsession. If i'm being honest, on the film alone, it's a 5, but i added points for 3 superb actors: Gere, Theo James, and of course Dakota Fanning. I'm definitely in the camp of people asking how Fanning hasn't won an oscar yet, but when she chooses film like this, where she's not really important, you see why. only knowing James from the 'underwold' and divergent' franchises, this movie is a great way to showcase his acting. (not that he's bad in the other films at all) i think if you go into the film realistically, that it's actually a character study on richard gere's character, you'll actually find it quite good. it unfortunately wasn't marketed that way, thus the disappointed reactions.
phd_travel A wealthy man who kind of caused the death of his dear friends tries to make up for it by being generous to their orphaned daughter and her husband. The young couple come across as ungrateful brats - what's wrong with a wealthy close family friend wanting to help you out? Dakota Fanning looks prettier and less odd than before. Theo James doesn't look like a doctor at all.Richard Gere tries to stretch his range as a dramatic actor but he is unconvincing. Even in the meltdown melodramatic parts he isn't believable. He just should dye his hair and do romantic comedies and dramadies for older people. Not a must see but if you have some time to spare or were stuck on a plane like me it's just an okay watch.
michaelzerin I have been a fan of Andrew Renzi for many years, since someone told me about a Sundance short, called "The Fort." It was very thought provoking, but was even more blown away by Karaoke! Since then, I have tracked his career and when I heard he had won a Sundance writer's competition, I knew his first feature would be worth waiting for, A brilliant script, great cinematography and a wonderful cast, led by Richard Gere's most mesmerizing was just a nigh to remember.Congratulations to all involved, especially the esteemed and talented Mr. Renzi. Can't wait to find out what his second flick is about.
guzungas Franny was tense, memorable and original. Writer/Director Andrew Renzi must have a bright future based on this feature, which includes a particularly strong performance from Richard Gere. Dakota Fanning and Theo James also gave emotive and compelling performances. There was a noticeable chemistry between the actors. The highlight may have been the creative script with a unique story unlike other pieces that focus heavily on a particular character. Renzi and Gere do a great job of creating a contradictory character both similar to personalities you know and cleverly original.Franny is a winner.
