Kirpianuscus a film about ambiguity of perceptions. about illusions. and about self definition. decent, provocative, dark. reasonable because it gives not more than you expect. a young man and his different lives. a bizarre past. and a sin who becomes more and more real. the past as a piece of clay. and the fight to be yourself, to preserve / discover the line between real and fiction. short, a must see for the fans of thrillers with few psychological nuances. or soft film from a genre who remains remarkable for few real great movies . for admirers of Ryan Philippe is a good option. for the interest of the relations between brothers a wise choice . short, a nice film.
oparthenon I'm surprised that some user comments found "The I Inside" even marginally watchable; there may be some star attraction in Sarah Polley or Ryan Philippe, but they are both ill used, and it is difficult for me, at least, to imagine genuine tears falling from Philippe's eyes as he mourns his existential condition with lines like, "This can't be --expletive deleted-- true!" and a moment later (as we switch to existential condition #2) "This can't be --another expletive-- happening!" (A reflective person, one gathers, this character apparently isn't.) Indeed, the action of the film (such as there is) is so preposterous, one can't imagine it happening anyway; but then this film knows not whether it is sci-fi or thriller, mystery or psychological drama -- no wonder the audience is reduced to focusing on its stars rather than on what they say or do as characters. Sorry -- a 2 star rating to a film that features glamorous actors in unglamorous, unflattering roles, and is absurd in the event to boot.
shiftyeyeddog I've never liked the idea of test screenings. The changes they make just end up neutering a movie and making it "safe" for the general masses. But if ever a movie needed feedback to prompt a rewrite and alternate ending, this is it. The first half of this movie is spectacular. It's atmospheric, tense, and confusing (in a good way). It kept you guessing the whole way. Much like Memento, it's an intelligent film that makes you watch closely and think. The story could have gone a number of directions....but the last half, it all falls apart. They start changing the "rules", the suspense gives way to straight storytelling, and the ending goes a completely different direction than it could have, and SHOULD have. It's not just that I didn't like the ending or that it didn't match my predictions. The problem is the truth is still unclear and viewers are left confused. Too much is left unexplained. As it is, the film is wasted potential. A good story and a good movie, but one that could have been so much better with a different ending.
soberauer Just like the TV series "Lost", it seems all exciting while you watch and wait anxiously for the ending, which is supposed to explain everything, but when it ends, nothing is explained. The whole point to movies like this is the ending which is usually a really fascinating twist, explaining why things happened the way that they did, e.g. "The Others", "6th Sense". This one had absolutely no conclusion and left me feeling cheated and like I had wasted the last 2 hours of my life.At least it's fun to sit here and write how sh1t this move was and hope someone reads it :) By the way, I can't stand the TV series "Lost" either, and I did understand every single word in the Matrix, so I'm not dumb.
