screampunk This... is the worst movie to ever claim to be based on a video game. No one should ever be subjected to this cinematic abortion if they know anything about KoF. The creators should be tied to a mast & flogged, along with everyone involved in its production. It has absolutely NOTHING to do with KoF, other than the constant name-dropping of characters & mcguffins, and not a single one of the actors actually resembles the character they're apparently playing in any way; the characters themselves have been completely stripped of everything in the source material bar their names. This abomination of a movie is the most insulting thing to KoF fans that could ever have been produced, and you honestly have to wonder how anyone involved in the production managed to convince this many people that such a badly-acted, badly-written, badly-referenced string of complete disregard for the source material could ever have been a good idea.
lewiskendell "Wow, this just keeps getting better and better."The King of Fighters is more like the king of movies that have absolutely nothing to do with their source material. That's right, it even knocks Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li off its lofty perch, and almost reaches the heights of Super Mario Bros. You won't recognize any of the characters unless they mention their names, and even then you'll probably think you misheard them (prepare to choke on whatever you're eating or drinking when you're introduced to "Terry Bogard"). The story is incomprehensible, and even the characters freely and often admit that they have no idea what's going on. I wouldn't even know it was a King of Fighters movie if people didn't insist on saying "King of Fighters" as often and as awkwardly as possible. Any and all entertainment to be derived from this will come purely from how outright hilarious it is in its awfulness. If there was any kind of script written down beyond drunken scribbles on a stained bar napkin, I'd be shocked. The dialogue is terrible, the actors don't even seem to understand what they're saying (I know I didn't), and the fight scenes are adequate at best, inexplicable much more often, and until the end, they're usually over in a few seconds either way. On the positive side, the cinematography is occasionally good, there are frequent opportunities for laughs, and Maggie Q. is hot. Absolutely nothing like the character she's supposed to be portraying and so slender it looks like you'd blow her away by breathing on her too hard, but still hot. The chick playing Vice was pretty sexy, too. That's about it for the "pros" column.    If you can't appreciate massive levels of camp and unintentional humor, don't come near this. If you can, prepare to laugh and have a pretty great time mocking King of Fighters. It's so bad that it's wonderful. Until the end, that is. The last part of the movie is a boring, seemingly endless fight that basically grinds the fun to a halt. It becomes pretty obvious around that time that most of the $12 million budget was spent on CG fireballs. And of course, the door is left open for a sequel. Because the filmmakers knew we'd all be demanding that. This definitely is in no way, shape, form, or fashion a "good" movie, but it was a highly entertaining train-wreck...for a while. Fans of the games will be even more amused/horrified.
ryonss I am a KOF fan since 1991 when Fatal Fury King of Fighters was made.Sad to say that director has broken all KOF fans heart. Before making a KOF movie one should understand the true inspiration of King of Fighters. No costumes, not a complete KOF story, they have changed the story,no main characters,no stages and environment,no musics from KOF,no character matching sense,no heights of players,no hairstyles,no KOF action,no nothing!Just forget the name of the movie just watch it as just an another movie, action is great and acting is good, a funny thing is that the action of this movie is given by the CIA agent Terry Bogard :>I am giving 9 for this movie thinking in mind that I have not seen KOF in my life.
Jayson Lok Do not watch this movie at all. Dun even bother to watch or download online. Read below to find out why We have seen how Street Fighter failed, we have seen how Dragonball failed, not forgetting to mention Tekken. Why are they doing it again for King Of Fighters??!! Its either these people have too much money to spend or too few people to irritate. I didn't even finished the movie and left the cinema after the Vice, Mature and Iori fight scene. If you all had noticed, all the top Japanese fighting games that turn into a movie all failed to have a sequel... Why? I am gonna list it out in the context of KOF 1. Poor Cast - Face it! This is a Japanese based game, if the character is Japanese, I.E Kyo, use a Japanese or at least an Asian. When i first saw the poster i was like WTH~~ Who is Who? Rugal stands at least 2.5 meter tall and he have longer hair. Mai is fair, voluptuous and wears a sexy red kimono alike costume. In the movie, NONE of the character matched...ZERO. If you cant find the right cast at least make the right costumes for goodness sake...Even the moves are wrong...2. Poor Plot - To create a plot out for a fighting game is not easy. But they aren't putting in any effort at all. Headsets? 3rd dimension? Relics? *slap forehead* They could have done a simple background story for each major character and they come together for a tournament organized by Rugal. Which lies a bigger plot behind the tournament, to revive Orochi. But Orochi needs a strong body to possess on and thus the tournament.3. Poor Fighting Choreography - The very first fight scene between Mai and Mr.Big is a joke. If you noticed.. their moves are slow.. they are both anticipating each others move... The camera angles... Speechless Iori got owned by Rugal when Rugal is running away with the Relics. He didn't even use any of his flame moves 4. Audio & Visual Effects - The music in the movie are easily forgettable comparing to Mortal Kombat. The visual effects are OK, but too little. So please, producers there... Do us fans a favor. Seek our opinion, do your own research and do not deviate too much from the game. You will earn your Box Office, we will earn our eye-candy. Win win situation.*P.S. Imagine Superman or Spider man filmed in Bollywood...You know what i mean...
