Rudeinternet-com Gonna keep this short. I really wanted to enjoy this show but, I was so put off (as a few of the other reviewers have pointed out) by the anachronisms like modern cars and buildings in multiple scenes/shots. They just destroyed my personal ability to suspend disbelief enough to be able to just lose myself in the show and enjoy it.Example; I've been a huge fan of Lee (both the actor and athlete) for over 40 years, I'm also a longtime fan of the football team Arsenal and was quite pleased at the 12:05 Mark of the first episode to see an extra showing his support for them in a modern Arsenal jersey (circa 2006) Now this is supposed to be a scene meant to be set in the 1950's! That's just one example but, modern clothing, cars, buildings and I swear I saw a guy on a cellphone in the background at one point too. Its all just too much to ignore. Bottom line, I realize unless you have a endless budget these things can pop up here and there. The show as a whole wasn't bad. But all those inconsistencies, it just feels as if there's no respect for their audience. Which to me, made it un- watchable.
robin_crowley Oh my God!, This soap opera is an insult to the memory of Bruce Lee in more ways than one. The music is annoying, the production is worse than "The Karate Kid" flick!, a Justin Timberlake t-shirt in 1959, Costco Pizza boxes in a San Francisco trash bin BACK IN 1960!!!, a VCR and a color TV in Hong Kong back in the 50's!!!, and those are just a few of the hundreds of mistakes in this cheap production. It's almost as if Linda Lee had told lies to her daughter Shannon about who her dad was and how things and events really happened, or maybe Shannon just lend her name as the executive producer, but didn't have time to supervise and review it AT ALL before it was released. Thing is, don't waste your time unless you don't mind watching a soap opera about some "different" version of who the real Bruce Lee was. Instead, you should watch: "Dragon, The Bruce Lee Story", it's much better and it's not 50 episodes long.
wilwilwel I've watched 14 episodes now and I can't stop watching. I had to write this review because I really love this series till now and I haven't seen a review yet with the thoughts that I have. I have been a Bruce Lee fan only since my twenties. When I was a kid, I did not like Bruce Lee because people ridiculed him in front of me, since I'm an overseas Chinese, even though I practiced Wu Shu in my teens. But back then I didn't really know him. I watched his movies for the first time only in my twenties, "Way of the Dragon" being my favourite. Since then, I am a huge fan. I've collected and watched numerous of his documentaries read several of his books, and even took some Wing Chun lessons for a while. I've seen several "Bruceploitations" and lately Bruce Lee seems to be getting more attention with movie releases like the Yip Man trilogy, Bruce Lee my brother and this TV series. This t.v. series is not like a Hollywood movie or a Hong Kong Bruce Lee movie, rather it has much more a "common" feel. At times it even seems you're watching a home video! But to me, this feels much better, because everything seems to be more "realistic" than a Hollywood movie where everything seems "perfect" (e.g. the lighting etc). This imperfectness makes it feel like you're really "there" reliving Bruce's life. The storyline is good although many things are not factual, the actors are good and during some scenes I even got emotional. Also, watching Bruce's early life and how he deals with things, really inspires me. The fact that it is a 50 episode TV series is even better as you really get to "spend time with Bruce" for very long times.I'm watching the Chinese version with Chinese simplified subtitles and Mandarin spoken language. I've tried to find the Cantonese or English dubbed versions but couldn't find it. Since I'm not a native Mandarin I am pausing it almost every few seconds to read the subtitles to understand everything. But this way I can also learn Mandarin! I've seen several reviews on the internet reviewing the shortened version of this series to 3 hours and they are really bad. I think that is justified since I think it would be more like a trailer of the series. If you're a fan of Bruce, I highly recommend this series.
ndsk from the start you can see its a amateur movie + the spiritual n the acting is really horrible, the kung fu is just wanna Be Hollywood , the technique is just another bring up your own technique to make it sound better but its just plain horrible (I don't know how this got out with bruce lee name on it but someone need to be shot)the music about bruce lee WTF , is wrong with you people! This movie really is a disgrace for all Bruce lee Fan... hope this movie burn into hell! nothing really make sense in this movie , if you need a movie to fall asleep this is it!if not don't waste your time watching this!
