It is 2016 and a fearful world seems to be on the brink of a nuclear catastrophe. A researcher in psychical events and his girlfriend travel to deepest Dartmoor to investigate a centuries-old building. What they unlock and discover is way more than they could have ever bargained for. An exciting first feature from newcomer Eugene McGing, who expertly takes familiar tropes and gives them a fresh spin in this genuinely terrifying haunted house tale.

nod64 What's unfolding is my attention with this dross."An exciting and relevant new take on the Haunted House story." Who said this? Was it the mother of the writer? This film is duller than a 3W bulb. Found footage certainly isn't a new take, neither are jump scares. You get a lots of stuff happening off screen, and not a lot happening on screen.I agree with what another reviewer said. Methinks the good reviews were written by friends and family of the cast and crew.I ended up turning it off, so no idea if there was an amazing twist, and I don't care either. Are they sure it wasn't meant for Shitefest instead of Frightfest? Watch something else, like Housebound instead.http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3504048/?ref_=nv_sr_1
roboteach Whatever deep meaning there was supposed to be within this film it passed me by completely. Lots of sudden loud noise shocks, ludicrous decisions and poor acting as is often the case in this type of film. I am occasionally pleasantly surprised by poorly rated films but not in this case. More than one star is generous. The science quoted is garbage, the behaviour nonsensical and the psychic, as well as the "effects", straight out of one of those awful TV shows like "Ghost-hunters". I wouldn't even consider it worthy as an "Ironing" film. It's like a low budget "Paranormal activity" and even though more happens in this film I found it to be similarly pointless. If you are looking to waste the odd 90 minutes of your life then go ahead with this trash. If not look elsewhere.
edbarton-911-820784 This is intelligent British low budget at its best. The slightly awkward nature of its clearly shoestring production is itself creepy in a way that adds to the effect that it is really quite chilling, and ultimately it felt strangely moving. Like every horror that has ever worked, it leaves you with the awkward, speechless, throat lump feeling that you have just witnessed something that you shouldn't have, followed with the cognitive disorientation of having to disassociate the experience from the re-emerging reality of your pitch black living room. It seems slow to begin but escalates uncomfortably, like a trip that you wish you hadn't taken, until it is the one leading you, out of control to a chaotic and relentless end, a free fall into oblivion. The acting for the most part works for the found footage style, although Lisa Kerr who plays Rose, the girlfriend brought unwittingly into the central focus of her boyfriend's post-grad spook research, has a nervous spiky energy that sets her apart early for what is to become her particular disquieting journey and draws the rest of the cast along with her almost inconsequentially, until being magnificently upstaged by Kitty McGeever, quite befittingly in her wonderful final performance.
n_a_hirst I don't think there's a horror film that me and my wife hasn't seen in the past 10 years (maybe more as she's a real addict). If you are looking for a film that is truly scary, this is the one for you... lights off and be prepared for some jumpy momentsI have given this film 10 / 10 - I have never seen my wife scream and jump like she did several times whilst watching this film... she and I both loved it.Great story line, acting and as I say the scares are phenomenal... even if I did have to escort my wife to the loo three times last nightHope the director sticks to this Genre and replicates the success he has achieved in this film.
